Beware of registration companies that refuse to transfer your web domain to another company. Registrars.com is just such a company. On January 11,2000, Registrars.com was paid 70.00 to register my domain site. They were paid in full for this registration service. In May 2000, I requested that my site be transferred from a service provider called Instantpc who was trying to extort money from me and making threats against me.Registrars.com agreed to do this as is customary. I arranged to have the transfer go through to Verio.com and paid Verio a $25.00 set up fee on the representation from Registrars.com that they would cooperate in the transfer. On May 11th, Registrars.com informed me that they would not go through with this transfer and that they were holding my site hostage for their partner, Instantpc. They decided to do this even though they had been paid, in full, for the registration service. They have effectively rendered my site useless and interfered with my business. I asked for a refund of the $70.00 registration fee since the site is useless. They refused to refund it even though they would be free to resell the name. I asked to be reimbursed for the set up fee of $25.00 incurred when they represented they would transfer this domain to Verio.com. They refused.

Be sure you register your domain name with a reputable company or you might have a name with no place to put it!
