My wife signed up for a "3-day trial membership" on the site "www.psychicrealm.com".

After receiving the confirming email, she tried to login to the site...unsuccessfully, of course.

She tried every combination of login name, account number, and password that could be thought of. She is a neophyte in the internet world, and really doesn't have the knowledge in this area. Things like "terms and conditions" and "site rules" links that are microscopic and in a differnet location than the sign-up area, are an oversight to her.

After trying to enter the site a day after receiving the confirming email, her attempts as I said were unsuccessful. She figured that they started the 3 days upon receiving her sign-up request, and not the confirming email, and assumed to be ripped-off of $2.95. Low and behold...the VISA bill came. There was not only a $2.95 charge for the trial, but a $29.95 charge as well. I went to the site, and started to research the problem. In a link to Paycom, there are terms and conditions that show you have the 3 days during the trial to cancel the membership, or face a $29.95 monthly billing.

I found the cancellation form, filled it out and submitted it. I also called the number on the bill, and spoke to a "customer representative." They gave the normal song and dance, basically stating that there is nothing that they could(or would) do. They also state to me that the login is good, because they could successfully login. Funny thing...the login name is lower-case, and the password is upper-case. I don't know about anyone else, but we don't switch from lower-case to upper for anything. Especially in the middle of a registration.

I sent an email to them detailing the circumstances and requesting a refund of the charges.

I received my reply today. It is basically what I expected...the standard "please see the terms and conditions of our site" response. I of course replied with a strongly written(but not vulgar) response, as to what my thoughts were on their site. My next step was to report them to as many people as I could, to make sure thay didn't keep getting away with it.

And here I am.
