Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I reporting to you today to inform you that I have been overly charged by Providian Visa Credit card company and I feel it needs to be reported because it has happened to so many people. I had a card with them back in 2002 and had a limit of $450 dollars in which Iused to fix up the house i was living in at thetime i paid of what I had used and closed out the account in 2006. Since that time they have been charging me interest on this card in which I don't use and haven't used since I had the account closed. Starting from 2008 they have been charging me interest and taking garnishments from my paychecks and my state tax return when I waas living in Michigan.

Since I have moved to Maryland which was February of 2012 they have some how got my information which includes my bank account information, my old and new addresses and where I work. I have found out that what they have done is against the law because I didn't get notice from them only my bank when they received the garnishment papers which to me is not right. I had talked to the law office that they hired last September about this situation and they wouldn't let me talk to the credit card company manager about my old account that they were trying to get more money from me for. I told them that I wasn't going to give Providian anymore money since my account had been paid off and closed since 2006. They said they would look into it and get back to me in which they didn't they some how got my bank information and sent a garnishment letter to them. I got the notice form my bank in October of last year I called up the law office told them I wasn't giving Providian anymore money.

I didn't hear anymore from them until last wek when my paycheck went into my account and the law office had sent another garnishment letter to my bank seinzing my money. Which I have to pay my rent yet and make a payment on my electric and get my son's airline ticket so he can move out here with me on the 29th of this month from Michigan. I called up the the law office they told me to write a letter explaining my situation and fax it to them I did that and the credit card company said it wasn't a good enough reason so they took all my money leaving me with nothing to pay my bills. I was getting back on track with my churches help now i have to ask them again to help me because I need to pay my rent so I have a place to live and pay on my electric so I have heat  and lights. This credit card company should be shut down because they are taking money from people who haven't had a card with them in a long time. I hope this explains enough to your company so you can do something about my situation and others who have had issues with Providian Visa.

 Sincerely,

 Shannon, Germantown MD

It sounds like you have a judgment against you

Look up your name in the public records section of the county where you live to see if you have a judgment against you. It sounds like you have one from many years ago in Michigan and the collections agency has now domesticated the judgment in Maryland.

You will need to check the various credit websites to find out what to do to get the judgment Satisfied or vacated. Once it is Satisfied, make sure the Satisfaction is recorded so this judgment is put to rest. Judgements last for a long time - usually 20 years but it varies from state to state. Do your homework so you can get this taken care of asap.
