Precision Toyota ripoff Tampa Florida
On August 4th, 2005 my mother took her MR2 into Precision Toyota because of a noise the engine was making. She left the car there for the day when she went to pick it up and get the quote to fix it, they told her that the engine needed to be replace at a cost of $5,300 (Plus a timing belt and wiring harness).
I questioned this right away, the car only has 77,000 miles on it and still drives and runs fine, it just makes a metal grinding sound. Besides, if the car didn't run, then I can see an engine problem. But it STILL runs so just fix the part that is making noise!!!
So, this morning we took it to Stadium Toyota for a "Second Opinion". They said it needed the following:
Water Pump (this is what was making the noise)
Timing Belt
Front Engine Seals
Valve Gasket
some other things, I forgot what they are
The total cost? $1,200
After I found out she was taking the car to Precision Toyota, some people warned me about their shady business practices. Stay away from Precision Toyota, the people at Statium Toyota were great and honest!
