Power Resumes Non-Response to repeated phone calls and e-mails. The business that doesnt give a dam Huntington Beach California

Met with Allen Robinson @ Power resumes to have my resume rewritten. Allen cited various resume examples but could not find the examples; he appeared to be very unorganized.
He suggested going with a 2 page resume made from a single page, folded like a brochure. When I asked for the cost he told me 225.00 Dollars. When I made the appointment he stated over the phone that the cost would be 35-90. When I asked Allen about the price discrepancy he said that the price I was quoted on the phone was for a 1 page resume. He did not tell me this on the phone. I provided Allen with a current resume and I needed to get additional information to him. I asked if his e-mail address on his business card was good and if he checked his e-mail on a regular basis, he said yes. I further asked him if I could send the additional information via e-mail, he said yes. I asked how long does it take have it done and he said usually 48 hours but some clients need it on a rush and can be done in 24 hours but he didnt recommend this.
I paid 225.00 by check, upfront as requested. I signed a work order and was not provided with a copy.

I sent an e-mail providing the additional information and asking when I can pick up my resume. No Response.
Tuesday, February 25th, 10:46am
I sent Allen another e-mail asking him to let me know when I can come by to review my resume so I can plan the rest of my week. No response.
Later in the day I called Power Resumes and got the answering machine and left a message saying the same thing I had written in my e-mail earlier in the day and again asking him to respond back to me. No Response.
Wednesday, February 26, 2003 afternoon
I called and spoke to Allen. Concerned by Allens lack of response I asked if he had received my e-mails and phone messages he said hes been so busy that he hadnt had time to look at his e-mails or review his phone messages. I needed him to review my original e-mail because I had provided information that needed to be added to my resume. Because of Allens lack of organization and responsiveness I told Allen that I thought he was too busy to handle my resume and asked to have my money refunded back to me. Allen told me that it was impossible to refund my money and that I needed to read my contract. I reminded him that he said that it was suppose to be done in 48 hours. He stated most times it is but hes been too busy. Allen asked when I would like to have my resume done by. I told him that I wanted it done by Thursday and that I would be by Friday morning to review it. After thinking about it, I called Allen back and got his answering machine. I left a message asking him to e-mail me a copy Thursday so I can review it make changes and bring it in with me. I asked him if this was a problem to call me back. He did not call me back until Friday afternoon.

I had not received an e-mail or response back from Allen. I called Allen and got the answering machine I left him a message that I no longer wanted him to write my resume because of his lack of response and that I would be by at 3:00pm to pick up my refund.

I met with another Resume writing service and the representative knew all about Power Rsums lack of response. He had heard numerous complaints about them. The representative said if I file a small courts claim he would be happy to testify against them.
I stopped by the Power Resumes office and told Allen I was there to pick up my refund. Allen said my resume was done. I told him that I only wanted a refund; I also told him that I knew about his history and about the complaints filed against Power Resumes. He said that I could not file a complaint about him because he had fulfilled the contract (which I was not provided a copy of) and the resume was done. I decided to leave and file my complaints to the Better Business Bureau. As I was leaving he called me a f***ing idiot from the back office. I came back into the office and asked him what he said, he repeated it again. I walked out of the office and then decide to go back and tell him that I was filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Rip-Off.com and filing a small claims court suit. Allen got enraged threw the work order at me from across his desk and said go ahead because the court will laugh at me for filing.
When I got home I had a message on my answering machine from Allen left at 12:30pm today. He said that he could not send me an e-mail with my resume attached because there would be too many copies and it would get confusing. He also stated that this was a 10 year company policy and that my resume was done. By then I had already contacted another resume service that provided me with superior service. This resume service had no problem sending me an e-mail with my resume to review it ahead, make changes and bring a copy in with me to edit a final copy.
I have been unemployed for 5 months and needed my resume rewritten by a professional. I could not afford to have another service perform this after I had already paid Power Resume to do it.
