We have a 1993 pontiac grand am, it was having a hard time turning over (cranking). One day it started sputtering, and shaking and then it stalled. I would turn over but when put in gear it would stall. took it to Pep boys in Brooklyn Center, MN for repair, but they didn't have a Tech. so they towed it the Coon Rapids, MN store. They had my car for 15 days. after disgnostics they reported that i had two bad fuel injectors that caused a surge to my ecm and prom and blew them out, so we authorized the repairs.

we pick up the car and the same problem we had prior to the car stalling still existed only now smoke was coming from the hood and there were strong fumes as well. we took the car back two times and they said they found nothing wrong with it, but the problem still existed.

Brooklyn Center, MN finally had a Tech. so we took it there. Some how they found a bad fuel regulator, spark plugs and wires. The car now runs and starts like nothing was ever wrong with it. My husband and I feel we were ripped off. The replaced unneccassary things such as the ecm, prom and maybe even the fuel injectors.

We feel we should be refunded the money of the whole to repair car which is 969.14 & 321.63. However we will settle for the refund of the 969.14 because we feel these repair we not needed. It seems as though they made speculations. We also were given the run around by the store management and their cooperate office operators.

#2UPDATE EX-employee responds

i was an employee of this store in brooklyn park and i worked there a very short time and while i was there i was seeing a shop of a few guys that could not fix a d**n thing, they hired me because of my wide range of experience and when i got there and i started at 8 am , the other techs would look thru the job tickets and take what they wanted to do so i was stuck with the crap and while i fixed this crap work, they were busy messing up the cars they worked on. i stayed there for only a few weeks and then the service manager and i had a chat about getting fair work out of the job everyday and he said that the shop is based on senority and not who is able to do what because everyone does everything, i told him that the one guy was a crook and that the cadilac he was working on, needed alot of a/c work because it had a leak, well it he would not have pushed his a/c sniffer into the evaporator core, this wouldnt have needed one and they made the customer pay for it while they put a o ring in a leaking fitting and they didnt write that o ring down just in case it leaked again then they would be responsible for it. so it dont suprise me to see a complaint on them because that perticular shop needs better managers for it. sorry to hear about your car, im one of few honest techs left out there but ya know, there are people out there fixing cars that cant wipe thier butts!!
