Office Depot Johnson City, Tn. Bogus sales advertisements
Office Depot in Johnson City , Tennessee is developing a trend of advertising great deals on computer packages........ only catch is, they don't have the product. Having dealt with a similar goose chase with them before, I thought perhaps that was just a one time fluke. Not so! A fine example is my latest adventure in the ghostly bargain. An excellent Compaq computer package was supposedly on sale for the week of Nov.5 thru Nov.11. I contacted the retail store via telephone on Nov.6 and was told that the only one in stock was the display model, which could not be sold.
The clerk informed me that the product would surely be delivered to their store the next day. On Nov.7 I telephoned the store and was told that the product would "possibly" be delivered the next day.On the 8th of Nov., I was informed by a clerk that indeed they were expecting a truckload of merchandise the following week and that the package "might" be included in that shipment. Of course the sale ended prior to that date.
Further investigation revealed that only one computer package had arrived since the announcement of the sale! Of course I realize that the Johnson City store probably has little control over which products will arrive at their store, therefore I assume that the problem lies further up the scale. This is surely my last dealing with Office Depot. I'll stick with Circuit City from now on!
