Looking for my first horse and found one on Horses Deserve a Second Chance. I made contact with owner Nicole Hillard and was assured this 13 year old was perfect for novice. Videos were awesome and pictures showed a beautiful Belgian mare. Unable to go see here for various reasons by the seller. ( mind you it is a 7 hour drive that I was willing to make).

Was told there were others interested and if I wanted her I needed to make my move. Against my better judgement I bought her sight unseen after being reassured that she was "perfect” for me. Was assured that her hooves were just done, her teeth were just done and all vaccines were administered. I made the drive to pick her up and was told to park at end of drive, on the road, due to the ground being soft from rain and reported fear that we may get into the yard. It was NOT rainy or muddy at the time.

Upon arriving she met me at end of drive with her non english speaking mother, that was " visiting”, and had the horse in tow. ( her mother has been visiting for several years it seems). The horse was grossly underweight, about 150-200 pounds. Spine was protruding and ribs visible. She said she had had the horse for about 3 months and she was working on putting weight on her. Had vet certificate saying she was healthy. Assume vet is in her pocket.

Got her home and noticed she didn’t graze well and drooled when eating. Had equine dentist come and she found the teeth were in terrible condition with one tooth being dead and requiring extraction. And advised horse is closer to 20..Not 13 as advertised. Had farrier come evaluate and noted thrush in hooves which required prolonged treatment. S

he is rideable but a little spookier than she was in the videos but I truly believe that is because I don’t drug her before riding ( snide remark). I would not ever recommend anyone buying from the supposed rescue. Nicole Hilliard is a scammer, she buys from auction and sells in a matter of weeks as being appropriate for novice riders and that is a crock of crap.

I whole heartedly believe she drugs these horses for videos. Someone is going to get seriously hurt on one of these horses. And many of them are sick and vet bills will come rolling in. If the horses were advertised appropriately/honestly, the buyer and horse would benefit.
