The information provided in this report below is based on comments made by Avram Freedburg during an onsite inspection held by a third party verification company with no biases towards National Collectors Mint

National Collectors Mint sells coins primarily made in the United States. However, they also sell foreign and ancient coins. CFO, Avram C. Freedburg explained that in addition to selling coins they also create custom coins, "we try to create the best products that tie into events, some of them happy some of them not so happy, and commemorate them."

Leads for National Collectors Mint are obtained through several different avenues including: direct mail, print advertising, national newspaper and magazines on television, as well as through internet advertising. Mr. Freedburg proceeded to explain the sales and services process as it relates to the individual consumer, "consumers can order either by phone where they may receive an automated answer...or a customer sales person who will talk to them directly when they call. They can order by mail or they can order over the internet." Additionally he stated, "we try to take very good care of the customer every time there is a contact."

CUSTOMER CARE & COMPLAINT RESOLUTION – NATIONAL COLLECTORS MINT

During the onsite interview Mr. Freedburg was asked to describe a situation where a client was dissatisfied with their level of service or the products they received. Mr. Freedburg expressed, "sometimes a customer may come up with a product they think they spent too much money on, and they need a return, exchange, or a refund. We take care of those no matter what the customer wants we are there for the customer. Their our number one." The staff at National Collector's Mint does everything they can to ensure customer satisfaction, "I would say that 99.9% of the people are happy after they've contacted us and with whatever our resolution is because we try to keep the customer happy."

When asked to comment on complaints posted on Ripoff Report's website Mr. Freedburg expressed the following, "unfortunately National Collector’s Mint had over 40 Ripoff Report complaints. We reviewed them...from 2004-present...considering the volume of business that National Collector’s Mint has done that’s a fairly small number. On the other hand we like to try and keep every customer happy. So we’re concerned when 40 complaints show up that we haven’t seen before." Mr. Freedburg went on to state, "In an effort to try and research these complaints there was very little customer information available, but we do know that Ripoff Report emailed each of those customers, and told them that we’re subscribing to the Corporate Advocacy department that is being offered by Ripoff Report."

Offer entitled Free brilliant uncirculated tribute proofs of the most valuable Morgan silver dollars ever minted appeared in a recent issue of the Parade Sunday magazine insert. The offer pictured 3 Morgan Silver Dollars(1893,1889,1895) highlighting the rarity of the offer and in bold letters stating pure silver. The only cost for the order was payment of $4.95 for shipping and handling. I placed my order under order #5649219. It was shipped from National Consumer Marketing on Dec 29,2004. I received the shipment o/a 6 Jan 2005. I was highly disappointed in the shipment and the return policy of the company. The 3 coins were stamped with the 1893,1889,1895 dates but were a cheap copy of the original, probably stamped on aluminum. What a rip off !!. Within the shipping package was a return shipping label. However in small print it stated merchandise could be returned but the cost of shipping and handling would not be refunded. Since the offer was free and the shipping and handling could not be refunded. I had just lost $4.95 because of National Consumer Marketing's shady marketing scheme. I called the customer service on 12 Jan 05 and talked to the customer service operator identifying herself as Gloria H. She ask me how she could help me. I told her I was dissatisfied with my order and wanted my $4.95 back. She said she couldn't return the $4.95 because the coins didn't cost me anything and the shipping and handling was not a refundable item. Jerry duncanvile, Texas

I would just like to add a comment on behalf of NCM (National Consumer Marketing). I am not an employee of NCM nor am I financially affiliated with NCM in any manner. I am a customer of NCM, as such, I have purchased numerous coins from NCM, and I have taken advantage of many of the free coin offers that they have as well. With the dozens upon dozens of coins that I have purchased through NCM, I have never found any of their descriptions, representations, presentations, or marketing programs to be deceptive, misleading, fraudulent, or dishonest in any manner. I have always found the terminology used to be straightforward and completely accurate in reference to the terminology used in numismatology. I would also like to add that I have found that NCM customer service representatives take extraordinary steps to insure that customers fully understand the terms and conditions of each order, marketing program, or special distribution offer that is being made or that the customer is subscribing to. These terms include shipping & handling, returns, refunds, and cancellations along with customer rights, responsibilities, and costs. I personally do not feel that it is fair to accuse NCM of ripping customers off because an individual does not understand the terminology that is standard for numismatists worldwide. I would recommend that if an individual is going to enter into a new hobby that the individual begin by learning the standard terminology for that hobby. I would just like to close by restating the one saying that I am sure everyone of us has heard time-and-time again from numerous teachers and professors. The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked.

Perhaps your company could have stated more clearly that the coins are replicas. I saw the ad and thought the coins were from the 19th Century. I was ripped off by National Consumer Marketing last year so I did not fall for something that seemed to good to be true. My lesson came at a cost -- the product National Consumer Marketing never delivered to my mail box! Maybe if your company was more honest you could get more repeat customers! Larry East Northport
