oN NOV 16 1998 I PURCHASED A NEW HOME IN OMAHA NEBRASKA FROM CELEBRITY HOMES. WITH THIS PURCHASE I RECIEVED "AMONG OTHER APPLIANCES" A BRAND NEW GE RIFRIGERATOR MODEL#(TBX18SIBKRWW), i RECENTLY MOVED TO TUCSON AZ. I HAD EVERYTHING MOVED PROFESSIONALLY. ON NOV. 17 1999 I NOTICED THAT THE FRIDG. WAS NOT COOLING BUT THE FREEZER SECTION WAS FINE. I CALLED GE AND I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT THE FOLLOWING DAY FOR A REPAIR AT APPROX. 1:30PM. THE NEXT DAY THEY NEVER SHOW UP. I CALLED THEM BACK AND THEY SAID THEY CANCELLED MY APPOINTMENT BECAUSE I WAS NOT HOME. I ARGUED WITH THEM AND STATED THAT I HAD BEEN WAITING ALL DAY LONG FOR THEM AND ENDED UP BEING LATE FOR WORK. THEY CLAIMED THAT THEY CALLED MY HOUSE AND I WAS NOT THERE. I THEM CALLED ANOTHER REPAIR SERVICE AND THEY CAME OUT THAT DAY.( THE REPAIR JOB WAS $179.00) WHEN I TALKED WITH THE REPAIRMAN ABOUT MY WARRANTY I TOLD HIM I WAS NOT SURE HOW MUCH LONGER I HAD ON MY WARRANTY. HE CALLED GE AND THEY SAID THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED ON NOV.16 1999. I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THEY COULD DO SEEING THAT THE FRIDG HAD BROKE THE DAY AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT LIABLE AND THAT I SHOULD HAVE SIGNED UP FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY PACKAGE THEY SENT ME WEEKS BEFORE. I TOLD THEM I NEVER RECEIVED ANYTHING FROM THEM. ON NOV 19. I RECEIVED MY LETTER ABOUT THE WARRANTY COVERAGE ENDING ON NOV.16. BY THEN IT WAS TO LATE TO SIGN UP FOR THE COVERAGE. I AGAIN CALLED GE AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT HELP WITH ANY OF THE BILL AND THAT IT WAS JUST BAD LUCK ON MY PART THAT THE UNIT BROKE 1 DAY AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP. THIS MAY NOT BE CLASSIFIED AS A "RIP OFF" BUT WHEN YOU BUY A MAJOR NAME BRAND APPLIANCE FROM A COMPANY YOU WOULD EXPECT THE ITEM TO WORK AT LEAST A COUPLE OF YEARS BEFORE REPAIRING IT.
