MUSTEK INC. DEFECTIVE DVD Player - NO CUSTOMER SERVICE - RUDE and UNHELPFUL - STAY AWAY Irvine California
I purchased a Mustek PL 408 portable DVD player and received it late November 2008. I charged the battery as directed and it will not hold the charge for more than 20 minutes. I tried this a couple of times and advised the company by phone and several emails that I wanted to return this equipment as this is the 2nd one I have purchased with exactly the same problem. This was a mistake!!! First, of all, they don't respond quickly if they respond at all. They will not give me a refund so they are sending me another battery for a brand new DVD player. It gets worse. I tried the battery one more time and noticed that the machine was making a funny noise and said it was loading but then showed NO DISC. I have emailed this company several times and they are so rude and do not care about the customer. They take your money for a defective product I can't use and they won't return my money. They said that the CD area has dust and to blow on it. I did that and the machine does not work.
Stay Away from Mustek products - they are a defective product and the customer service -- there is none. I should have learned my lesson the 1st time as I only used the DVD 2 times and had exactly the same product.
Go with a reputable company. I bought the player and at the very least since it is brand new, should absolutely have no problems but to have 2 and it is brand new, well... And the customer service people are arrogant and are not willing to assist you with any problem.
Horrible company. I am still waiting to hear back re the 2nd problem. A new battery will not fix the 2nd problem but Mustek obviously doesn't care about their customers. I dealt with Andre who was extremely arrogant and rude. Oliver, his boss, just covered for him and wasn't much better.
