I recently purchased a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant GTZ in September of 2001 from a non- mitsubishi dealer. When I purchased the veichle I noticed there was some vibration in the wheel while stopping. Since my car was still covered under the 90 day dealer warranty I took the car back and had the front rotors refsurfaced. I thought the problem was gone however in another month it came back. I then took it back to the dealer I purchased it from and I had the front rotors and brakes replaced.

This took care of the problem until January when I started having the problem again. My purchasing dealer would not have any more to do with me or my veichle and said they would absolutely not do any more. So then I had my rotors resurfaced by another non-mitsubishi dealer and the problem went away for a little while but I noticed I still had vibration in the wheel at highway speeds.

Fast forwarding to August 2002 I am still having the same problem with my veichle only now its worse. Theres a screeching sound and squealing coming from my brakes along with vibration at highway speeds and braking. I have contacted Mitsubishi about this problem and they insist that its not with the veichle itself but a wear and tear problem. I love the car but am frustrated with the problems. Please HELP.

solution to brake rotor warping

i to am a mitsubishi owner....i have a 2002 diamante and have had many problems with the brake rotors warping....heres the solution....do not cut the rotors but instead have new ones installed....and heres the key....mechanics love to use an air wrench which can torque your lugs as much as 200foot pounds and can and will lead to rotor warping within 5000 miles....have your lugs hand torqued using a star pattern to 75 foot pounds and your problem will be solved otherwise you will have warping rotors as long as you have the car.....DO NOT DEPEND ON THE MECHANIC TO DO IT....MOST WILL NOT...torque wrenches are inexpensive.

I have also spoke with several other Galant owners and they report having the same problems. Is there any way to get Mitsubishi to recall this veichle and own up to its mistakes?
