L.A. Fitness Guess Pass Bait Tucson, Arizona
I have been a member of LA Fitness for several years before I had to cancel my membership in August 2009 due to reallocation. I have been considering coming back and asked my friend for a guess pass to see if I can make it work. A local sales rep, Sam, contacted me promptly and made an appointment to see me at the gym. When I arrived at the gym with the friend, who gave me the pass, Sam, asked me if I want to sign up for membership right there immediately. I said, i was not ready since I need to see how I can make it work with my new home, far away from the gym and work. He, then looked me up in the computer and said that he will not honor the pass, since I had canceled my membership only 4 months ago instead of 6??! I do not know how he came up with this policy but even though, I asked if could work out today since I came anyway. He said $15, ripped my pass and did not say anything as I left. I called the front desk a few minutes later and asked for Sam. I asked him for his last name, which he gave me (i hope it was the real one). Sam asked me why I needed it for, and I replied that I wanted to contact the regional manager. To which he spoke in raised voice that there is no need to call that manger and there is one in Tucson and then he hung up before I could say anything else. I feel very humiliated and betrayed by the gym I have entrusted for years. I hope that they will learn how to handle and honor what they promise regardless of whether you can sign up right then and there. Moreover, I hope they learn about being courteous to their future or former clients. LA Fitnesss, what a shame? You are faceless and greedy money making machine that only seeks to enroll unlimited members even though there a limited room at the gym. I will take my business and my friends elsewhere. Shame on LA fitness - you are just like a car dealership with its greedy salesmen.
