Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I purchased a brand new home from this company and received my keys just yesterday 2/1/05 afternoon. As soon as I was handed my keys I was told by one of the ladies at the Sales office that my house had the wrong address, but it was no big deal.. No big deal? The deed just recorded with the wrong property adress. She then handed my a letter dated 1/11/05 from the city of Coachella advising my of this mistake. Why didnt the company KHOV notify me or correct this before we closed escrow on 1/31/05? This after all is some "major" mistake. I drove directly to my "new" home and as I drove into my driveway, the garage door was open my shower and toilet were sitting in my garage. The door leading to the house from the garage was propped open with pieces of carpet pad. There is a hole in the wall where the shower should be and the hole in the ground for the toilet.

Make note: I have 2 young children 2 and 5.

We procceeded to walk through the house expecting workers to be nearby having been working on my bathroom. No one in sight. The front door was unlocked. Who knows how long my house had been open to the public. Nothing that had been noted during the orientation "walk-thru" had been cleaned or repaired. Scratches on the walls, cabinets, dish washer, broken cabinets, dented door knobs, broken screen, nails on the roof top, gaps in the stucco, along with other misc. The floors, windows and bathrooms are dirty. The blue tape where the Rep that did the walk-thru noted the pending corrections was still everywhere.. NOT one thing had been touched.

Most important there is NO running water in the upstairs bathrooms. There is running water in the kitchen sink, but remember the downstairs toilet is sitting in the garage. Several phone calls later I've been told my house to "some" people may be livable and it depends on what I consider "unlivable" -- Customer Service Manager John. No running water upstairs and no toilet downstairs--is livable?

Anyway, I was told that my house would be moved up to priority but there is only one person for 50 houses. I was in no hurry to close escrow on my property, I didn't mind giving them time to complete it and give me a "NEW" house not a fixer. I paid in the mid $300's to receive a dirty, unlivable house whose garage I couldn't even pull into. But, they say I should be happy because I received a $1,000 dollar credit for construction delays (I should have received my house in October) and $2,000 dollars for closing before 2/10/05. I was told my house was move-in ready. Did I mention we are running off a generator until 2/3/05 that is IF they keep their promise. My shower was to have been ready 1/31/05?? Empty promises??

Yes, did I still have faith and believe they were honest? Yes, up until I drove up to my "NEW" and expensive fixer upper! Please feel free to contact me if you have any suggestions about who can help me with my current NIGHTMARE. I have contacted different NEWS channels and hope to take this to as many cities as I can to warn the public of companies such as this one, eager to make a buck even if it means breaking a family's dream!

Unhappy

By now everything has been installed, reapaired or replaced. Would I recommend this builder to anyone? NO, maybe not. That's like asking me if I would relive my whole ordeal and the answer to that is NO definetely NOT. Although everything now looks to be in proper working condition I would not like to experience this a second time or want anyone to experience the headaches, and sarcasm I got from some of the people associated with this company. One of them is John Quick (manager) and no people skills "in my opinion". He said he'd call me back to help me find a solution to my problem (might he still be looking for one)? He was no help. Another person who was rude to me was a lady named Valerie in the sales office. By now I've talked to other people in the neighborhood who have dealt with her and agree, she's the last person you want to "work" with after you've closed escrow, there's no longer a reason why she needs to keep you happy $$.. I didn't expect anyone to be "nice" to me, just to show a little respect to those of us who must leave work early to make it to the sales office before they close to pick up keys etc. EXAMPLE: by getting off her cell phone from what sounded like a personal call to hand me my (correct) mail box keys to avoid more complications. And yes, I ended up with some else s keys. I'm still waiting for mine, by the way. Anyway, alot of my problems have been from lack of attention. People just wanting to pass me on to the next person. Not directing me to the people that would help me. Many times the answer I got was "I don't know", but I'll get back to you. So, of course my frustration increased, after not receiving a phone call or yet an answer to my complaints. All I needed to know was that someone would work with me and when. When I asked for dates I didn't want to hear, "your home is under warranty for a year". I know that, I wanted to be given a date and for that promise to be kept. But remember, I was talking to the wrong people. I was finally given the direct number to the customer service office for our development. This office is responsible for making sure everything in the home is working properly. Had I had their number from the beginning I would have skipped everyone else and been happy from the beginning. They have gone out of their way. Walking into our clean, completed house (as we expected it to be from day one) was GREAT. We've had minor problems as expected and they are quick to respond by sending someone out (if available) or scheduling an appt and keeping their word! They don't beat around the bush and have answers to our questions. My husband and I have each talked to Nash Santillanes and Kevin and find them to be the best people we could have met at a point where we felt that we were not getting answers from this company. I hope they know how greatful we are for their help and understanding the stressful situation we were in. Thanks so much for your help and most important showing us that respectful and courteous customer service does exist within your company... My home is beautiful and find it to be one of the best floor plans in the area, so if like me you fall in love with one and decide to take your chances: just be careful. After all I don't want to deter wonderful people from our community. Make sure your address is correct, that you are given the correct mail box key and most important walk thru your house before you sign loan docs. (The little things we sometimes overlook).. Good LUCK!!! P.S. Thank you Nash for improving our experience at KHOV's Forecast Homes-La Paloma in Coachella!! My family and I thank you for going out of your way to help us! You along with the guy who comes out to work on our home are awesome.... We are now able to enjoy our NEW home! (I'm sorry I can't remember the name of the person who is responsible for our section of the developement, my mission is now to find out his name and thank him personally for making our home a priority!)...:O) No longer UNHAPPY @ La Paloma
