I went to Kmart to buy my baby some diapers (emergency). I normally don't shop there because the prices never ring up right, their cashiers are usually rude, and the store is usually filthy. Anyway, I ended up buying several items, and after the cashier scanned everything and told me my total, I repeated the total and said "what the heck did I get?" jokingly. She RUDELY said "Pampers, a scanner, shampoo...", as if I didn't know. The total seemed high, but since I was in a hurry, I used my debit card and left.

When I got home, I noticed she charged me for TWO packs of diapers (I only purchased ONE) and overcharged me $12.99, so I called the store. It was 10:00pm, so they were getting ready to close. I spoke to the Cashier Supervisor, who told me that I needed to come back the next day, and they would refund me the overcharge. She told me she would NOT be there, so she had me write down her name, clock # and the time we spoke, so there would be no problems.

The customer service desk employee was so RUDE. After I explained the entire situation, as I did above, she said (qoute) "I can't give you your money back, that girl ain't even here". So I asked to speak to a manager and waited awhile for one to show up. He said there was nothing he could do because that cashier supervisor was off that day. He said I needed to come back again-- Um, excuse me, but I don't shop at Kmart and I live 10 miles away, I am NOT coming back because one of your employees screwed up". He "pretended" to call her at her home, but couldn't get through. I told him I was not leaving without getting my money back. Eventually (after standing there for 30 MINUTES), he told the clerk ok (there was a different one now, the rude one went to lunch).

When she proceeded to do my transaction, she said she didn't understand why he didn't just give me the refund- the other supervisor's name/number and day/time we spoke was written right there. She agreed that it was ridiculous.

Then, she said "Oh, you wrote a check?" and I said, "Yes, why is that a problem?" and she said she could NOT give me cash back, only a store credit... WHAT THE HELL?? I didn't want to shop there anymore, and I was so sick of arguing with these ignorant people that I took the store credit, bought another pack of diapers and left.

By the way, the diapers I bought had a SALES SIGN under them and when I got to the register, they rang up wrong. The sale sign was for the previous week, which had ended the day before. The cashier said I'd have to go to the customer service desk... Ugh!!

I WILL NEVER, NEVER, NEVER, EVER, SHOP AT KMART AGAIN!!!

On several occasions, family members and friends of mine have had similar problems there. The sales prices are NEVER entered in their computer system correctly. 99% of their cashiers and customer service reps are RUDE. I say 99% because I have had ONE employee that was helpful to me there in the past year.

It is sad when a large retail chain like Kmart begins to deteriorate like it has. I love shopping at Walmart, and although the employees are not any nicer, THEIR prices ALWAYS ring up right :)
