Our pipes burst due to the cold front during January 2014. We decided to go with a tankless water heater due to the damage of the pipes. Unknown to us, the entire pipe system in the house were faulty pipes, hence the leak.
Jeff, the contractor, claimed that he can rerun the pipes in/out of the house and redo our upstairs shower in 3 days. I knew from previous renovations that was a lie. In fact, it took them one week and a half.
As they began knocking holes in the wall, there was mold going up the wall of the master bedroom shower and the upstairs shower. The insurance adjuster just happened to be here to see the mold as well. Jeff stated that he was going to cut the mold out.
The problem is that he did not cut the mold out completely. The mold in the upstairs bathroom was covered up by new tile and our old baseboard. On one side of the wall, they decided to use Kilz on the mold which is not going to stop the mold from growing (another contractor verified that claim). The mold going up the shower in the master bathroom was cut out since their was so much, but he did not get all of it. At the base of shower, there was mold/mildew on the wood and sheet rock to the point when I touched it the sheet rock crumbled. Instead of removing the wood and sheet rock, they painted Kilz on it and kept progressing.
They did not clean up behind themselves at the end of the day. They have ruined our carpet, tracked grout and sheet rock mud throughout our house. They didn't use a dropcloth to prevent the mess they left behind. Instead of them bringing their own towel, they reached up and grab five of our bath towels to wipe up some of their mess and left them on our bathroom floor.
They did a bad job at the pipes they installed throughout the house. Everywhere the toliets and out facuets are their is about half inch of pipe sticking out. Not to mention, they decided not to cover up our pipes for a week which was when the temperature dipped down to the single digits. Whenever we flush the toliet you can hear the pipes rattle in the wall.
When they completed both bathrooms they looked like crap. The tiles are not lined up, grout is missing inbetween the tiles, and at the top of the shower is an open gap between the wall and tile. In the master bathroom the only took up half the shower, they used white tiles and white grout when our tiles in our shower are almond with beige grout. Jeff claimed our shower was dirty and thats why our tile and grout looks beige. Then when we approach him with it, he claimed he couldn't find that color tile. So, we have a shower that half white and half beige.
They had to dig up our driveway that they have not fixed and have no intentions on fixing although the contract states he will replace it. I have video and pictures of their handy work especially the mold they didn't remove.
