Home Creations

In the fall of 2007 my wife and myself purchased a new home from Home Creations . 2 days after we moved in the problems started .

1. There was a leak in the drain from the foundation that required a hole in the side of the house that they left open for 3 weeks.

2. The house with in a month started cracking walls inside and out. When we called to have it repaired it was like pulling teeth with a pair of tweezers . When they did show up they filled them with caulking. That's not repairing that's bubblegum and bailing wire.

3. There was lumps on the carpet , It took 6 months to get them to look at it .

When they pulled the carpet back the concert pad was CRACKED. One corner of the carpet was molded ans we were told that was normal.

4. The kitchen counter is like a roller coster . The never put the brace in under the deck.

They removed several tiles to try to fix it but never did , and to make things worse they did not even put back the same color tile. The frant and back door leak air . And this is an engry star house?

5. The whole frame in the roof is missing half of all of the braces.

They sell you on a warenty that is worthless.

Two doors down there is a couple that bought one of these homes and are having the same problem.

This is what you get for $120000.00 +

I need anyone who is having problems with this company to email me as soon as possible. I am getting an attorney and would like to make this class act action.

Home Building

#2General Comment

Sat, February 26, 2011

I have worked in the home building industry for 12 years and here are some of my comments about the person's issues;

THESE ARE NEW HOMES AND BUILT BY HAND! Possibly one of the few things left in the world still built by hand. As far as homes "cracking" and "wharping" this is called settlement folks. It happens in 98% of especially in the first year. The ground shifts and if you don't like it talk to God. Builders realize this and most ask that you wait usually between 6-12 months before requesting repairs for this particular issue because if you begin fixing them too soon you will only have to come back and fix them again until the settling is done (it never stops but slows down considerably after 1 year). If you think your roof is missing half the bracing it's best to speak to your municipal code enforcement. Your home passed the frame inspection so more than likely "somebody" told you that it lacked proper bracing.

Some legitamate concerns are the "mold" in the carpet padding. Was it mold or mildew? People often jump to claim something is mold when it is just mildew. HOWEVER there certainly shouldn't be any mildew on the padding either. In regards to the doors leaking air this is almost impossible to stop completely but should be attempted and can usually be pretty close to air tight. Unless your door is suction operation (which I've yet to see offered in the market) it is impossible to be 100% tight. Did you have a warrenty comeback? This should be handled then if you didn't catch it at closing or during a walk through. As far as the the counter top being "braced" under the deck, there is no bracing because IF you have tile then it's usually tiled onto a plywood board. You can't put down the plywood then go in and brace it (I suppose you could try but unless your cabinet is 6'-8' feet in height good luck). Your cabinet itself is the brace. But this wavering in tile does occur which is why I don't like tile on counter tops. If my customer requests this then I - A) attempt to dissuade them out of it and B) use a product called "hardy backer" that prevents this (but this product is un-practical in production home building which judging by the price point of your home I assume it is). Also the carpet shouldn't be bumpy. The slab needs to be scaped clean of all imperfections and if nessesary ground with a grinder.

I'd also like to make a point about the contractor saying that the builders quality control has suffered. As a builder it is your job to ensure quality control in the homes you build - period. That's what you get paid for and why people trust you to build their homes and not do it themselves. I try to inform my buyers about things that are almost for sure going to happen and are out of the builders control (settlement cracks, grout cracks, paint flaking, concrete cracking) so that they're not worried to much when they see these things and know that they'll be adressed. That being said I wouldn't take the word of any contractor that gives you a statement like that because in the end HE IS THE ONE THAT INSTALLED/BUILT IT LIKE THAT! That means he walked away from his trade satisfied with what he had done as well. As a builder it's still you job though to make sure this doesn't happen.

I do not work for this builder but as a builder I must come to the defense of the industry and misconceptions about the building process. I'm not saying that builders are perfect because the most certainly are not. Some are definately better than others. What is the most important key to a good builder is if they stand behind their product and are willing to go out of their way to correct mistakes. I've turned upset customers into repeat buyers because I went above and beyond to make sure they understood what happen, why, how I was going to correc the problem, and ensure that it wouldn't happen again.

Sounds more like you work for them . If you think that not putting in the braces so the counter tops dont warp and water comming in evertyime it rains is good. Then thats your problem. As to how we care to deal with the company thats up to us. All contract are not the same and whats in yours may not be in others. I have already talked to a lawyer and they said that new is new in this state no shades of grey . Last but not least , repairmen have said and I quote . Dont blame us the company has lost control of alot of its quality in its building pratice .

We just bought a Home Creations home in Edmond. Everything is great! Sure there have been a few issues that warranty had to come out and repair, they did so in a timely fashion. These are new homes folks, the are built by hand, not by a machine.. as many homes as this Home Builder builds in a year, sure there are going to be issues, however I am very pleased at how well Home Creations takes care of any and all issues concerning our new home. I'd give them an "A". In the contract you signed when you bought the home, if it was like mine, you agreed you CANNOT SUE anyone, you signed your right to that away, when you bought the home, so forget using the word class action, it will never happen. Arbitration is the only word you should be using after signing the contract. Some people can never be pleased, and want to whine, and whine, and always think they should get something for nothing. I can only speak for myself, and my experience with Home Creations that they have been awesome, and all I wanted was a little touch up caulk, and doors adjusted a little. I suspect you are mad because you requested a brand new home, or something else outrageous and didn't get it. That company wouldn't be in business if it did people dirty!!
