Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
we had gone to the zoo on July 4, 2000 and when we returned to our room (at holiday inn downtown, cinncinatti, ohio) we had found an outfit that had been laying on the bed was gone..the next morning we ask the housekeeping supervisor, about it, we thought it may have been in with dirty linens and she was very short with her answer and no help to us at all.

Also the night of 4th of july we took our families to the resturant downstairs and never got waited on, we sat there for an hour and finally the bartender in the next room heard me griping to my husband about what was going on and she gladly came to the rescue. From her computer in the bar, she took our order and also went into the kitchen area and prepared our food and served us. She could'nt believe the situation that was occuring either, this lady was very polite and i was glad she overheard me otherwise our 4 children would have never gotten to eat.

I still have not heard from the hotel at all on a refund or someway to compensate us. We will not ever stay there again..., i do not know the name of the staff that was involved in this ordeal. but i as well as my sister in law wrote our names, phone numbers(home), and our address and our side of the incident on paper and turned it in to the acting manager on duty. so if it was done by the book this would have been kept in an employee's file or kept somewhere at the hotel so something would have been done. i have given holiday inn enough time to reply to this situation and i have heard nothing..this really looks very bad on this company and their good name because of a few very bad apples at one location...i have waited more than long enough..

Ed, if you really sat in a restaurant for an hour without being waited on, I bet the jokes on you. I don't know anyone who would sit with no service for an hour. Second, if it was really such a horrendous wait, it turns out that there are other places in the world to eat. I bet you couldnt wait to order an 8 dollar cheeseburger and let your 4 kids eat for free with your "purchase", and I bet the waiters and waitresses were fighting to get your 2 dollar tip to take care of you and four children. Maybe the stolen item incident is correct, but I find your restaurant experience..... hard to swallow.

Not saying your claim is invalid, but people not only in hotels but other places will try anything to get a discount or something for free. We had a guest who claimed their wallet was stolen from the room. They said they left the room at 7am and did not return till 9pm. When we used our machine to see who had been in the room the GUESTS room key had been in and out of the room 4 times that day. We still gave them a discount on the room and free dinner, but we had been lied to by them. I hope you are telling the truth and I feel for you having stayed at hotels also.

Who in the world would want to steal someone's used, dirty old clothes? This does not make sense. Perhaps the complaintant packed said clothing in one's suitcase and forgot about doing so. I can't fathom any logical reason why someone would want to steal such clothing.

Ashame Hotel Franchise don't care enough about Guests

It's all about money to the hotel owners and franchise, not about the customer. Get you in the door get your money and that's as far as it goes. As a manager of a hotel, everyone that is hired here is run thru a background check. I care about my customers and thier safty. I have worked in several chain hotels, and seems Best Western was the worst. I was a maintenace manager when a housekeeper tried to sell me things taken from a room he had cleaned. I Contacted Best Western and bascially got a who cares attitude. They as most franchise don't require owners to do a background check even on their managers. I can list three Names of individuals and their employment as of today the have been in prisison in the past three years and are running hotels. One who braggs about the items they have come up with and the money "laundried" from the hotel. My suggestion would be at least ask if employees are required to go thru a background check, and complain to franchise to require their hotels to enforce it. It's not a 100% gurarentee but it would help.

HOTEL NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEM STOLEN

#6Consumer Suggestion

Unfortunately, the Holiday Inn cannot be held responsible for the garment that was stolen. Since there is no proof the maid or some other hotel employee took the garment, the hotel is under no obligation to compensate the guest for the loss. A guest could make up a story about a valuable item being stolen and then seek compensation from the hotel. For example, I could claim to have had $1,000 in jewelry stolen from my room that I never even brought to the hotel. (I'm not questioning the credibility of this report. I'm just pointing out the difficulty with trying to seek compensation for stolen items.) The hotel is only responsible for valuables that are placed in a safety deposit box provided by the hotel. This diclaimer often appears on the reservation form signed at check-in. The guest's only recourse would be to file a police report. However, with no proof of a theft taking place, this is probably just a waste of time.

I USED TO WORK AT 3 HOLIDAY INNS IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, AND YES THE MAIDS DO STEAL. ALSO YOU MIGHT WANT TO THINK ABOUT IS, THEY DO NOT DO A BACKGROUND CHECK ON ANYBODY THAT THEY HIRE. ALSO THE MAINTENANCE GUYS CAN WALK INTO YOUR ROOM AT ANYTIME, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT THERE. I WOULD FIND OUT WHAT MAID WAS IN THERE CLEANING YOUR ROOM, BECAUSE THEY KEEP A RECORD OF WHO DID WHAT, SO IS THERE IS A PROBLEM OR QUESTION LATER THEY KNOW WHO CLEANED IT, AND DON'T LET THEM TELL YOU THAT THEY DON'T KEEP A RECORD OF IT. TELL THEM YOU KNOW SOMEBODY THAT USED TO WORK AT A HOLIDAY INN, AND I KNOW ALL OF THE HORROR STORIES.
