My wife and I purchased a Hewlett Packard Pavilion computer, monitor, and printer in July 2000. I was supposed to receive $290 in rebates. We filled out the forms, sent the upc symbols, and our receipt. In October we received a check for $150. The HP Awards center told us "There is no way possible that you could get that much money back in rebates on that system." I figured we were out of luck because we didn't have copies of the rebate forms.

Last night, we saw on Yahoo that Hewlett Packard was offering up to a $350 rebate on their computers. They also had a check your rebate status online. We typed in our information and it showed that there was a check for $150 and a check for $40 (that we never received) issued.

I called up the HP Awards center and told them what happened where is my $140? They told me that all they had was a record of the $150 and that was all we were entitled to. I said well, "What about the check for $40 dollars that we never received?" He didn't even want the web address that proved that there was a check for $40 due us and that proved that they lied about $150 being the top rebate available. He also added that they don't have internet access and pretty much told us to pound sand.

BOTTOM LINE HEWLETT PACKARD WILL NOT HONOR THE REBATES THEY OFFER!!! THEY WILL LIE TO YOUR FACE AND DENY YOUR CLAIM!!! THEY ARE ONE OF THE MOST PATHETIC COMPANIES EVER!!!

People who who buy products with rbates should be sure that the rebates are manufacturer rebates, not store rebates.

Some companies allow store to assign rebates to their products.

Also check the wording of the rebate. It could have said "up to" instead of the exact amount.

Also make sure there is no hidden products that you need to purchase to get the complete amount. As with all rebates read the small print. There could have been something that was missed.

You should also buy the product for the product not the rebate. Sometimes, in the case of store rebates, the company can be as confused as you are.

READ EVERYTHING before sending and make photocopies. It could save you money and save time. It also helps the company better serve you especially if they need to see the rebate.
How do they know exactly what you were offered.
Remember READ! READ! and photo copy!
