I signed up for Hawx Pest Control after someone from their company came to my door to ask if I needed pest services. I asked if his products were safe because I have kids and I also have pets outside. I was assured the products they used were in fact safe.
After my yard being sprayed I noticed I began having asthma. I did not connect the dots at first, but later, after reading what information I could find on the products they use on my yard, began to suspect it was the chemicals being sprayed. They use Suspend Polyzone. This substance is anything but safe. I called to cancel my contract. I was told I had a cancellation fee, but if I decided to keep the service I would only be charged $70 so it would be cheaper for me to keep it. While I did not want their chemicals I reluctantly agreed. I told them to only spray in the very front of my house. I have a garden in my back yard and I also have dogs in my back yard. During the next service, the employee went around the side of my house to spray after I told him not to! I was livid. After that, my credit card was hacked and I had to cancel it. So they card they had on file no longer worked. I was sent a bill. I tried to call about the bill, but after being on hold for an hour I was no longer able to wait. On their completion of pest service email notifications it says that any account which is delinquent will not have future services rendered until that what is due on that account has been paid. However, while I was out of town, they came and sprayed my house again! I did not consent to this. Furthermore, they are unsure that my garden was not sprayed, which could cause unknown harm to myself and my family. My dogs were outside and no one, including pets, are supposed to be around Suspend Polyzone when it is being sprayed. This harmful chemical is not supposed to be sprayed anywhere near a garden. I called in regards to this. I spend yet another hour on hold. I had to hang up and try again. I spend half of my day trying to speak with someone. Once I finally did speak with someone, I was told I needed to speak with someone else to cancel my account. Wasn't my contract over at this point? Cancel my contract? This did not make any sense. I tryed to convey that I did not give informed consent to spray my home. Informed consent is when you are informed about what you are signing. I was misled to believe their products were safe. Hawx Pest Control tresspassed on my property while I was not home and caused unknown damages to my garden which could led to unknown health risks and complications. They have caused pain and suffering. And yet I am still being charged for these services.
At this point I am going to have to sue them for the following: 1. Damages to my garden 2. Damages to my health 3. Pain and suffering 4. Trespassing 5. False Advertising. Furthermore, I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau and the Structual Pest Control Board.
I hope everyone reads this and does not fall victim to this company like I did.
