Complaint Review: Habitat for humanity - Hollidaysburg Pennsylvania

 I am a single mom a disabled veteran with a severe autistic son 15 years old. 2013 habitat for humanity came to my home to discuss my eligibility for a home..and was passed..but was denied due to another person getting the home..one year later they called said they were doing a veterans build and I qualified..excited I went to look at the property... In dismay..it was located in another town ontop of a huge hill with all the streets on a hill on all sides...o my! Do I have to build a home on this?? No no they said...its property we had sitting ten years...but will go to meeting fight to keep you in your town.great! Yay! Month later I called I was told to go up look at the property again...I went up..there's my house sitting! Built!! Structure is up! O my!! Ok..wow.. I met with head of construction and president of habitat..he's excited!! What do you think? You built it? In three weeks?? Didn't call me?? How? Who? When?? Yes we did!! He says we are doing an extreme makeover..its huge we are excited!! Thinking I'm trying to absorb this..I've not even seen any paper work!! He talked about locks latches fence sidewalk front porch keypad locks security cams for my son..I was getting a little excited but the hill?? No access to front Street? How am I possibly going get down that hill? Bus garbage mail? I've not even seen blue prints!! He said don't you worry we are going to make it nice and pretty! Went into Home..looked around..ok well problem!! I don't need three bed rooms only two! My heads spinning ..lots of discussion went on..on now what? I have no idea this process..0! None! He said about signing in a sheet when I come up to work?? Okay....when? With who?? No one seemed to know..so all winter this house sat with nothing to do..they were working on another house!!

Months passed I get call about hours and volunteer to stuff envelopes?? Ok sure..no one came! She never brought them! She's new office manager another resigned..head of construction left..I'm in the loop..no one tells me nothing...so spring I go to house it's locked..I sit wait on instructions.. Confused on what is going on I get a meeting finally...then they sit and yell and belittle me because...I'm not doing anything?? Ok..what do I need to do? I go up..and see the house is only being worked on ..Sat morn till noon ..four times month! Things are getting slow! No one calls meets talk to me..nothing! I begin to question everyone I know..about this hill..excavation habitability of the property...no one knows..I meet..please please tell me about excavation I need to know!!weeds are 14' high! It's jungle can't walk through around and all the hills are completely weeded thickets brush rocks!! Who takes care of this? don't worry about it they say that's for us to worry about! Meanwhile new head of contractor steps in..once in awhile..I start my hours digging weeds! Pulling cutting ..mountains of these huge bamboo like weeds! It never ended..another winter is coming..no progress being made...come spring they said..will insulate dry wall paint..right now .nothing to do? Winter comes..not alot of progress no one talks to me calls nothing..I have no idea what going on!

Spring comes..I get on weeds..paint..drywall see only volunteers working few weeks on Saturday and never come back?? No ones here!! Help! I keep on the weeds..the terrain is inhabitable..no ones answering my questions I don't know who to call?? Help?? Volunteer were retired men that came Saturdays to build my house..after two years I'm getting really upset.closing dates moved.I pack to move..unpack..closing dates move I pack..months go by I unpack..I keep asking when will it be done?? Please my son is in school!! He needs transfer date..therapists.Tss..Bsc..speech it...I need answers..no answers..no one knows? Have you even been up there? Why is the front porch not out back?? I was told it will be out back?? Where's steps going down the hill to the road? there's no way down?? Why is it not like in blue prints? Why? Anyone? My son needs a urinal that's all I ask.how much is this costing??no one knows till it's finished?? Can we meet? Can we discuss this?? No meeting.none..time ticks..fans..screen doors ..hood over oven ..do I get these?? No it's not in budget?? Well there's a urinal sitting here yay!! Least I got that.. Plumber where's he? They don't know? Electricians ??where are they?? We don't know...excavation? Where's he?? Don't worry we will do that..I don't have a driveway! It's all rocks dirt weeds!! Help! anyone??

Finally I get a meeting for finances part..yay! Finally how much is this house? Well first u need 500$ down..ok.then years ins paid ahead..years taxes paid in advance..past present and future...and your home was appraisal at 88,000 but projected cost 90,000?? It's not finished! And it's more then valued?? Are you kidding? Well see you wanted a wall knocked down so sign its your fault and you understand this?? Ok but I get 1,000 grutarity fund for the house...yes but you wanted a urinal right?? Yes I found one at Walmart 130$..well yours cost $460!! What? You are taking it out of my grutarity funds? Yes you wanted it..my heart racing..feel like I'm going pass out..joke this has to be a joke! Why didn't you tell me? I signed my life away under these conditions because if I didn't they said I forfeit my home? Landscape excavation?? Please driveway?? When will it be done??? O its not unusual homeowners move in and home not finished but we will..don't you worry!! I'm scared to death!! You all lie..don't tell me anything.. Just here..paint . sign..so at closing...I'm nervous.

I don't have attorney! I'm afraid it's never going to be done! Contract yes I'll have them sign something promising excavation and..landscape!! Well no..we don't do that?? Well I signed for house on promises.. March 17\16..got keys...moved in..one day..next day I can't get utilities in my name the new girl never registered it with the city! I have no address! No proof house exists!! No school no address! I wait week! Post office can't change address till it's changed at city hall?? Omg here's where fun just begins..son misses month school..I'm exhausted.. I've not even moved yet. And no hot water? Who inspected this house?? And passed it??? No water in tank it blew elements.. No bath nothing..my dream house all of the sudden started going down fast! I smell something.. I go in basement ..the sewage backup is in my two day old basement? Heart attack! Omg!! The plumber never hooked up sewage to main city line its running in the basement!

Habitat?? Habitat?? This is humiliation! I freak.city sets date to hook it up...my son and I have no shower no bathroom?? We use paper bags?? Clean up feces out of the basement?? I cried so hard! I scrubbed best I could..did dishes outside..habitat told me they get it cleaned up..three days no potty ..water..I think I should have walked away! State representative eichelburger heads these homes I emailed him! He called apologized asked me to claim on my home ins I just paid up year advance 750$ deductible?? No! Way! Ever!..cables not hooked up phone lines messed up...circuits blow..I'm freaking out...trying to get inside myself see the light!! No light on this tunnel..school..my sons in school I move in..excavation? Pls help !me its April I have no yard! He's coming don't you worry! May June July?? Cmon ..I put tiny pool in this Barron land of weeds rocks..its hazzards its a liabiy someone going to get hurt! Me! My son!! There's no where to walk house is sitting in middle of 12\14' weeds! Still! I call Excavator he says three weeks?? I email eichelburger pleading please we need a yard!!

It's inhabitable! Ok we will get someone. Ok because.I need two week notice to drain pool..I have no sheds no yard nothing but dirt rocks weeds and alot of mess.its hot.dry.inhabitable.. I get notice office manager girl quit?? Quit!? Now what??who's going to take care of this??don't you worry..July hot hot hot! No yard shade nothing..we hudle in side all summer...shamed!! New girl calls to meet Aug 4\16 yes yes yes I need answers..I wait for her outside..to my surprise here comes a bobcat!! Yay!your going excavate??? Yes..ok my pool what do I do??? Leave it its OK..you sure? I can drain it..no no it's OK I'll work around...ok..here comes new girl! Yay! Hey I need three things..reciets for urinal...stove and fridge warranty.. Ok sure! Three days I watch intensity excavation take 100s pics!! Wait wait I say..weeds these 15'bamboo things? What you going to do?? Well dig up haul out...yay!! Ok!! Great..two truck loads..rest he digs up pushes over all my lovely mountain hills and yard..finished up! I'm like ok but the weeds? I'm done he said..I'll leave pile dirt u can fill in..once u take pool down...ooook why not?? Why not? I have no arms left but ok! He leaves now..grass landscape bushes home depot is doing I'm told and it's done!

Two days pass..it thunder storms!!! Out front flooding? Noooooo...I trudge treches 2am! Trying divert it!! I call habitat for 1000 times pls help!!!no one gets back.I take pics..mess what a mess washed every thing out..my only path for my son to get to bus..gone!!! No one cares!! I'm tired disabled stuck no way out... I write text call email no one getting back?? No one!state rep .no one? Anyone?? Pls call me.help! I take pool down its 100 degrees try fill it in with that crap pile dirt.I'm exhausted! Done! I see sprouts coming up..tiny sprouts all over.hundreds..what now? Omg its growing 3\4" day! Finally habitat texts me after much drudgery ..its Japanese knot weed! Huh? What's that?? Google it...omg...its bamboo! I try digging..its like cement out there..pulling spraying.. its growing..hundreds everywhere he pushed dirt..it re rooted!! I'm going have nervous break down!! I pull 6' tentacles from one sprout! One! It's everywhere its consumed my property!! I plea please come out look assess and remove it pls!! No answer njo one cares! No one! I get text...habitat we will spray it..I write 100 times noooooo its knotweed it needs dug out! Last I heard...will get volunteers out there...well here I am..Oct will come and no ones came to look..assess. Rid and landscape!! It's four ft tall now! Four feet!! It's consuming my property.. I need help! Advise! Anyone?? U cannot wake up spring to 15' bamboo .its so innavasive its almost.. Impossible to rid! They should never built this house on this hill and not finish it! It needs finished! Help?
