Global Vantage RCS ripoff Brookfield Wisconsin
I had a call from a guy who first called himself Andrew Dawin then James Andrew. First he said he was calling about an AT&T Wireless Bill then AT&T Long distance. I had been a customer of both for many years. If I had an old debt they would never have continued to give me an account without settling an old debt.
I did contact AT&T Wireless and they showed a bill had been sent to collections but saw payment and were submitting it for correction. I checked my credit report and nothing was there. When I told the person calling both these items that's when he changed the company name to AT&T long distance. I told him he was full of crap and hung up.
Twice I sent a fax to both names he gave asking for validation of debt. I found a sample letter on line for this at http://debt-n-credit-letters.com/debt-dispute-letter-1.html. They also suggest a follow-up letter http://www.debt-n-credit-letters.com/debt-dispute-letter-2.html
I did some research on the company and the only thing I could find is that they are registered 3 times (one with spelling error) on the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau.
I also found that what is happening lately is large companies are selling off debt and people are trying to collect it as a home business. The other thing is the debt they can't collect, they just sell it to someone else. So around and around you go with different debt collectors evn if you can prove that the debt is not valid or SOL (expired). This has to constitute harassment...doesn't it?
