About a year and a half ago my wife set up an account at Gerard's Pharmacy in Denville, NJ for her mother's medication regimen. Her mom is 88 years old with Alzheimer's.

Well, things went sour right away. The manager's name is SUSAN HURLEY who is absolutely the nastiest individual we have ever dealt with. The bill got racked up to $995.84; her mom got sicker and this woman Susan started making harassing phone calls to our house. (My wife has power of attorney over her mom's afairs)

At one point I went into the store to make a payment toward the bill voluntarily, on a Sunday, and since Susan was not in, they WOULDN'T TAKE THE MONEY!! When I went into the store to pick up my own meds another time, this woman harassed me about the debt rudely. I got so upset I called my wife at work, from the store, she in turn got upset and it caused an argument between us.

Then this SUSAN called the house, saying how we were going to be turned over to collection, very rudely. She could have been diplomatic. I finally lost it on her and tore her up one side and down the other, telling her NO MORE phone calls, quit harassing us or we'll send you a dollar a month. I'll leave out the cuss words.

Now she chooses to tack on a $15.00 late charge every month when we are making payments on a timely basis. This is the dispute, not the owed amount. I think this is illegal under NJ law.

If SUSAN had been diplomatic, polite and approached us with a decent attitude, like everyone else we do business with, things would have been different and payments would be more timely. Her nasty ATTITUDE and the way things were said is what has ruined things here. We feel she is taking advantage of an 88 year old woman who is on a fixed income and emotionally harassing my wife. Obviously we do no more business there!

Gerard's moved out of Denville about a year ago and has been under new management for a long, long time. I don't doubt the veracity of this reviewer and that may be why the old Gerard's changed hands. The people who own and run this pharmacy now, in 2013, are wonderful and caring people. In fact, I've moved all my pharmacy business to them because they care. I agree, people who treat you poorly should be avoided...but there are new folks there now.
