It's just a shame, people are stuck going to these sub-par dealerships to try and get their cars fixed and they just sugar coat the problems and they don't get fixed. My family has allways owned Fords, but the buck is stopping here, no more Fords for me. If the dealerships I've visited are any indication of the rest of the Ford dealerships accross this nation,I can honestly say with every confidence, DON'T BUY A FORD ! You'll Be Sorry. Their own customer service agent in Dearborn told me on the phone, and I quote, "we can't force a dealership to work on your car". I think that says it all........stay far away.....I'd like to set my car on fire and drive it threw their front window. What a total crime !

My mom has gone thru the same thing! The car is a peice of crap right after getting it it started ticking and the brakes went bad..... she bought it brand new and 6 months after driving it off the lot she was having massive problems. To date she still has: bad brakes...still not fixed!!!! no air at all ( went out at 1 year mark)...still not fixed!! ticking in the engine...still not fixed!! had to be towed ( would not start twice) to dealship and fixed alternator and battery both bad the one time, water pump bad the 2nd time You know what they say......*^&%ed over rebuilt dodges!!!

Yes, I've been to 3 different dealerships. As I said in my original post, one dealer did more harm than good (wrecked my car), the next refused to work on the car, said "Dearborn says loud valve train noise is normal", 3rd dealer reinforced what the 2nd said, "Dearborn telling them valve ticking that cannot be heard with the windows up is not an issue. The real pisser here is we're out of a car for weeks at a time when we take it to a dealer. seems like we're just spinning our wheels. A shame really, we like the little car. wish we could get them to honor their warranty.

Have you tried another dealership? Ford does make a somewhat decent product, and I'm sorry that one dealership is giving you a hassle.

Just wanted to add the fact that my Ford Focus is still under warranty, it's a 2005 and the warranty doesn't expire until 2010. Not worth the paper it's written on if the Ford dealer refuses to work on it ! I paid for the warranty yet the dealer says massive amounts of valve ticking is "Normal". Again, I was told by my dealer , "if the driver can't hear the ticking with the windows up, Dearborn is telling us it's not an issue".....Yea, I'm going to buy another Ford.

Take it to an idependant garage. As long as my vehicles are under warranty, I take them to the dealer but the minute the warranty runs out it's off to my independant garage I go. You should be able to find a good independant garage in your area. Just ask around and get some referrals from people you know and trust. With a 2002 vehicle it should be far out of warranty and you sure can't do any worse that you have already. You'll probably save a bunch of money and get much better work. Ask big Robert.
