Approximately 18 months ago, FLEET took over the accounts of Household Bank customers. To make money off of its new unsuspecting customers, FLEET began charging the new customers double their old interst rate. I called FLEET to bring this to their attention and was told the increased interest rate was for a cash advance. I adamantly informed FLEET that I would never take a cash advance as I have sufficient funds in my banking account. After speaking to at least 4-5 representatives, I spoke to one who was kind enough to tell the truth. She said that when FLEET acquired the new accounts they automatically called any balance from the previous holder (Household Bank) a cash advance.

Finally, after being diligent, I was able to get FLEET to re-tally my account at the normal rate offered to other customers. It was 10.99%. This took months and clearly showed me how unscrupulous FLEET was. They still never credited me with approx. $35.00 but I was tired of haggling and let it go.

I was assured that my rate would remain at 10.99%.

On my July 24, 00 statement I noticed that FLEET had increased the interest rate to 12.47%. On July 31, 00 I called and was told that they had no control over this and it would remain the same. On this day I closed my account.

On 8/27/00 I received my FLEET account in the mail only to find that they were now charging my account 26.99%. I promptly called FLEET and was told that if I close the account or if the bank closes the account, they charge 26.99%. I told them I did not see this on the back of my statement outlining rules.

They said it was on the original card holders agreement.

FLEET HAS UNSAVORY BUSINESS PRACTICES, FLEET IS UNETHICAL and I want the WORLD to know about their greed and arrogance. They feel that they can do whatever they want to the little man.

How can I get this message out to as many customers as possible.
