Feb. 25, 2000-I purchased a car from Ed's USA Auto Rentals.

Feb. 27, 2000- Drove car to work. Low Coolant light came on several times. I checked fluids and they were ok.

Feb. 28, 2000-Low coolant and tempature lights came on. I put coolant inthe radiator and tried it again. The light came on again. Took car to the gas station to check the fluids and said that they were good. They didn't know why the tempature and coolant lights kept coming on. He suggested putting antifreeze in the next day while the engine was cold.

Feb. 29, 2000-Added coolant while engine was cold it seemed to be ok.

March 1, 2000-Car sat all day. Didn't go anywhere.

March 2, 2000-Went to the store lights came on again. Ed's was already closed didnt call.

March 3, 2000-Called Ed's spoke to Tracy, who told me to bring the car over. Dave and Ricky checked it out. They couldn']t find any leaks in the radiator or water pump. They replaced the thermostat and radiator cap. It cost me $16.20 for parts and labor.(waranty 50%-50% they pay 50 I pay 50)

March 4, 2000-Low coolant light came on again, so I added more antifreeze and water.

March 5, 2000-Car sat all day.

March 6, 2000-Both tempature and low coolant lights came on again. Called Ed's, they were closing so they told me to drop it off the next day.

March 7, 2000-Dropped car off at Ed's. Came back for it, talked to Ed and he told me that the head gasket could be bad. Junior was working on the car. Ed said to call back on Thursday. He said it would cost about $800.00 and that i was responsible for at least half of the bill. I tried to explain to Ed that it must have been this way before I had baught the car. He returned with the comment i am sticking to paying my half of the bill, so why cant you stick to your end, and he also said, "Dont know what you did to it in the time you had the car."

March 8, 2000-Spoke to Ed again he had told me that there was a crack in cyclinder one of the head. They were putting head gaskets and a USED head on the car. He said he would call me when it was done on March 9th.

March 9, 2000-Called Ed's talked to Ricky he said that they are ripping the engine out and putting another engine in the car. Stopped over later that day to look at the crack in the block and the crack was at least 3 inches long and it didn't look fresh.

March 12, 2000-Called over talked to talk to Tracy about the status on the car. She said to call back at 12:00pm. Called back and they were gone for the day.

March 13, 2000-Ed called and said that he recieved a complaint from Bureau Of Consumer Protection and that he was gonna hold the car till his name was cleared. Asked him what the cost would roughly be he said about $3200.00 (only paying $2695.00 for the car).

I paid a deposit of $750.00 plus $16.20 from fixing it the first time for a thermostat and Rad. Cap, Which give a grand total of 766.20, I would like to get all that back if possible.

Sincerly,

William Smeltzer
