Discount Wheel & Tire - Incompetent, lazy, Loop 281 Longview Texas
One day, as I was driving along, my rack & pinion decided to go out. Well I asked around, and my mother told me to take it to this new place in town called Discount Wheel & Tire. I said no, I don't know anything about it, she said she heard it was a good place. Anyway, I did. BIG MISTAKE!!
First of all, it took them 12 hours to do it, later I figured out why. It was because they were trying to do it the lazy way. On a Ford 1988 Tempo GL, you are supposed to pull the steering wheel, well they didn't. They put it in through this tiny little hole in the wheel well, I don't know how, but they did.
Well, I drove off, unknown to me at the time, that the steering wheel column was not secrured to the rack & pinion, it was just sitting in the cuff. Needless to say, when I pulled out into the busy highway I almost recked.
Well, I took it back again, they fixed the bolt, but didn't straighten the steering wheel, so this time when I left, I had to rotate the steering wheel as if I was turning, so that I could go straight. I took it back again, this time I raised hell. I thought it was fixed right, but 2 months later, something dreadfull happened. As I was coming home from work one cold wet night, my amp light came on. I pulled over and popped the hood, and to my surprise, there were was smoke, everywhere.
I took my car to the machanic, there he told me what happened. When discount wheel & tire put in my rack & pinion, incorrectly, they bent my high pressure line that runs fom my rack & pinion to my power steering pump, which in turn made my power steering pump wheelie seize up, burning my altenator, power steering pump, and snapping my serpentine belt.
All because they did their job wrong. I missed almost a week of work, while my car was being fixed. So, consumer beware Discount Wheel & Tire, they are lazy morons. Location : Loop 281 Longview, TX.

The rack & pinion that Discount Wheel & Tire installed cost $400. The cost of another mechanic correcting their mistake cost me $350.
