The white Direct TV remote with the Yellow/Orange Select button will only work with Phillips batteries. Direct TV denies this is a problem and will replace the remote for a $20 fee or will add a service contract to your account for $5.99 per month. I spent an hour teying to convince the service tech Shelton of that fact. He at first said oh yea thats right and then denied any problems with the remote controls.

I asked to cancel my account and was told I would have to pay $200. I then asked to speak to a supervisor and the phone went dead. I called and spoke with another service tech that did not give me his name. He told me he was going to hook me up and it would be no problem. After over 30minutes, he said ok I've got you set to get a new remote. There will be a fee of approx $20 for the new remote.

I told him to forget it. I went to Batteries Plus a few days later and asked for Phillips batteries for the remote. The associate said," are they for a Direvt TV remote". I told him yes and he told me the problem was the contact inside the remote control was flat instead of spiral like it should be. He told me to insert a screw drive into the battery opening and pull the spring forward until it uncoiled a bit. I did this and now every make of battery works in the remote.

Someone really needs to file suit against these creeps. They are out for one thing and that is money. They lied point blank about the remote issue and then had the balls to try and sell me a service contract. I cannot get away from this corrupt company fast enough. I only wish someone would file a class action suit against them.
