Bought american Airlines tickets through Cruise Wave Travel on 8/27/18 for 4/26/19 flight to San Diego & back. Had to cancel trip due to family emergency & American Airlines issue partial refund of $424 buthad to send it to Cruise Wave Travel since they were the actual agency that ordered & paid American Airlines for the tickets.

Cruise Wave Travel insists my refund ticket number is invalid and they never got any EFT payment from American Airlines. I tried to tell them I have documentation disproving their arguement but they have now blocked me from further contact with their Company And was told by them that they were doing this.

You need to double-check with AA again.

The only way airlines issue a "cash" refund is if you had a full fare and fully refundable ticket, but if that is the case you would not have received a "partial" refund. If you don't you if you bought a fully refundable ticket..you didn't. As you have to request that and the cost would have been 2-3 times more than what you paid. It is very likely that your "refund" was in the form of a flight credit toward future travel. When you contact them this is what you need to verify.

If  you happen to have Travel Insurance, then that is a claim you have to put through the insurance company and they would refund you the money directly..after they verified your claim.

Now, if you do have a flight credit, you need to act fast. As in most cases the credit is only good for 1 year from the original date of BOOKING..not the date your flight was scheduled. If this is the case you have just under 2 months to use the credit before it expires since you booked the flight on 8/28/18.

As a side note, this is one reason you ALWAYS deal with the airline directly so you don't end up as the ping pong ball bounced between two companies who keep telling you to talk to the other company. It wouldn't change the refund policy, but it would have likely gotten this answered for you a lot sooner.

Good Luck
