Complaint Review: Cottman's Transmission/AAMCO:Aaron Bennett - Bossier City Louisiana

 First and foremost the company would have responded to this report had we known about this report prior to today. It appears reports can be filed on this site without any validation of accuracy and notice to the business. With the above mentioned the Company "Aamco/Cottman" is requesting from Ripoffreport.com to provide any and all documentation that supports this report is valid; if none can be provide then the Company "Aamco/ Cottman" request at once that this report be removed and deleted.

Secondly, our Company was in business for over ten years prior to the owner deciding to sell and during this entire duration of time handling thousands of customers a year our Company only received a handful of complaints and litigation matters and the majority of the complaints like this one was entirely on items non related to what our business was about and where we were trying to recoup something that someone didn't pay us for originally and trying to help others whom didn't have the financial resources to pay the going rate prices for vehicles or repairs.

The Company "Aamco/Cottman" for the record isn't a used car lot dealer or a finance company we are a repair shop that makes repairs to vehicles that the consumer authorizes us to make nothing more nothing less and sometimes consumers have multiple problems with their vehicles and being left unrepaired stimulates other problems elsewhere that they can't conceivable imagine almost like how our bodies are; however, in this particular report that keep in mind hasn't been validated with authentic documentation only someone's words has posed a reputation ding against my previous company and more so me personally and even though it's been several years passed since discovering this report I'm fully prepared to litigate for defamation of character against all involved. With the above being said from time to time our Company "Aamco/Cottman" would have consumers authorize repairs then not follow through with paying "Where's our complaint hotline" so we would get stuck with balances on vehicles and sometimes with liens from lien holders additionally.

So our company would have to make the best attempts to recover what we have invested into the vehicle by selling them for what we had in them in cost, keeping in mind that if a vehicle came in for a transmission repair and that's what the consumer wanted fixed we wouldn't know about brake problems, or ac problems or any other problems these vehicles may of had. Our job was only to diagnose and fix what the original consumer was concerned about. So when we would get stuck with these vehicles we would sell them "as is" unless it correlated to exactly what we fixed and if it did correlate to what we fixed we would issue to the "as is" customer any warranty time/mileage that was left over from the original completion date of the repair. In closing, if any validation could be provided on this matter then what our policies were and how we handled used cars and warranties I've answered above, if the report cannot be validated then we are requesting this report be removed at once or we will have no choice but to pursue all involved legally for several violations and we will seek punitive damages as well.

First of all, you bought a car from an unlicensed, unregulated car seller, when you should have bought from a licensed dealer... ok, lesson learned, what now? If Cottmans did not sign the title, and the notary did, and if HE wrote $100 as the selling prive when you paid more, then both AARON and THE NOTARY are in trouble.. first of all call the Louisiana Secretary of State and file a complaint against the notary for notarizing an open and unsigned title. THEN, call the Louisiana Used Motor Vehicle Commission in Baton Rouge and tell them he wrote a smaller amount on the back of the title. This will pop both of them good.. as far as Automotive Diagnostics, they were just caught in the middle fo a bad deal.. I have used them and they are good at electrical problems. Thank God for decent folks like CAMO.... Hope this helps...

Ok...so we've already covered how Cottman Transmission in Shreveport, LA is a TERRIBLE place...now let's take a look at the update: Since we had our original problems with Cottman/Aaron Bennet, we have pulled our 93 Maxima from the guy Aaron Bennett sent us to (who was trying to charge us for 2 blown computers to the tune of $1300)...we were looking for other cars figuring we've basically been completely screwed and still need a car. Well, we come across this one guy, but the car he was selling is gone...we explain the situation and he is DISGUSTED. He informs us that he owns a repair shop and will take a look at our car for FREE...he even towed our car to his shop for FREE... Now here's the kick in the nuts...we can't get our car from the first guy (Automotive Diagnostics in Bossier City, LA) until we pay for his "diagnosing" our car (even though he said that the computers needed to be replaced before he could run diagnostics)...and we have no car to get from Shreveport to Bossier...so we catch a cab...pay $73 to get our car back...and ride home...total?? $100 for NOTHING. We call Rusty at CAMO Automotive in Bossier City, LA (the HONEST mechanic whom we can not thank enough!!) to see what's wrong. He sounds kind of funny and I think he's gonna give me a HUGE list of bad news. He asks, "What were the initial complaints about the car??" I tell him, "We were told that the car has an open circuit and that when it gets to operating temperature, there is a problem with power...and then the 2 computers are out..." To which he tells me, "Cause I've been driving the car and everything seems fine to me...it needs brakes REALLY badly....there might be something wrong with the shift linkage...I'm going to keep running it and get it to operating temperature and see if I can duplicate the problems..." I call back a little later...he says, "Yeah, there's a little loss of power, but nothing major...just seems to need brakes and rotors and I think I have to tighten the shift linkage..." So naturally I ask, "What about the computers??? Are they blown?" His reply?? "NOOOOOOOO! Absolutley not..my computers are talking to them just fine....in fact, the chances of 2 computers blowing out at the same time are astronomical....the whole car can shut down and the computers will still be in tact." "How much to fix the brakes??" "Ohhh...about $200....then if there's anything wrong with the shift linkage...but...whatever it is, I'll work with you if necessary....as long as I'm not putting to much money into it out of my own pocket..." I could have cried....SERIOUSLY...here was an HONEST person doing HONEST work for another HONEST person...willing to help a stranger he had never even met face to face!!! And the cost is probably going to be between $200 and $500 (what we were originally told)...as opposed to the $1300 we were told we were going to have to pay JUST TO GET THE CAR TO A POINT WHERE THIS CROOK/THIEF SAYS HE CAN LOOK AT IT AND FIND OUT "WHAT ELSE IS WRONG" (God only knows what this criminal would have "also found wrong" and how much he would charge). So I'll probably be posting another one of these Rip Off Reports about Automotive Diagnostics in Bossier City, LA. I think I figured out what these guys do/are doing. See if this makes sense and what you think about it: We go buy a car that's supposedly left by another customer who couldn't pay. Aaron shows us a receipt (handwritten, of course...what he probably did was rebuild the transmission for the guy and told the customer that he had to buy a whole brand new one...the customer was probably like us and couldn't afford $1000+ when he was expecting $200+ for a repair and he ended up losing his car!!) for a transmission he put in that cost $700, right?? Ok...he tells us a list of minor things needed to repair the car and how "he just wants to get what he put into it back". He sells us the car for $500 and sends us to this other guy that does electrical work (supposed to be only about $200 to $400)...the guy tells us it's going to be $1300...we of course don't have that (but if we did?? I'm sure they would split the money...see??)... but here's the rub....Aaron hasn't signed the title yet!! SOOOO, when we're having the bill of sale notarized, he tells the guy he sold it to us for $100 because it was "a junker and not working"...but then tells us, he did that to save us on taxes...but conveniently forgets to sign the title...when we go back pissed off?? You know what I'm sure he would have told us?? "Hey, guess what...the notary even saw you sign...the most you can prove I owe you is $100...unless YOU want to get in trouble for lying in court"....and he figures he has us by the balls, right?? So in order to cut our losses, we're supposed to take the $100 and go on with the rest of our lives and he probably will do this same thing again...because he gets the title back and it looks like it was never even sold!!! So he's got us both ways!! If we return it?? He still gets $400...if we keep it and get it repaired?? He gets half of the $1300 plus whatever other repairs are needed...in our case?? he probably purposely loosened the shift linkage...the guy at Automotive Repairs would have probably told us it was something major...so we take it back to Cottmon, right?? He tightens up the shift linkage and tells us the transmission he bought was bad and he needs to send it back and get another one...which will probably cost us another couple hundred dollars...but he just tightens the shift linkage and gets it back to us in a couple days and we think he's Superman...I can't swear this what happens, but it seems to be, right??? How is there transmission problems on a BRAND NEW transmission that just left a transmission repair shop?? The car hasn't even been driven since being fixed!!! The guy couldn't pay for it, right?? Aaron just wanted his money out of it, right?? He showed me the bill of sale for a new transmission...said the car had a new engine, new transmission, and new tires...all looked new when we popped everything for a look...so why is the HONEST guy telling me there's problems with the transmission????? I've called around Shreveport and Bossier trying to get second opinions...there aren't a lot of places that do the type of electrical work that Automotive Diagnostics does...so things were looking VERY bleak...we just happened to stumble upon someone who can actually help us and do his job with honor and integrity. We still have yet to go back to Cottman Transmission, but when we do, we're expecting problems. We need to get the title signed and we need to get the stereo he promised us (one of his selling points was that the car had a stereo worth AT LEAST $500..."10's in the trunk....CD player"...none of which are currently in the car...just the jacks where the 10's plug up and where there SHOULD be an amplifier)...if he won't give us what he promised, no one else will probably have to suffer through their poor customer service ever again as we are going to go full force pursuing every avenue possible to shut these crooks down.
