Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I had an account with Best Buy and fell behind on 2 payments during a moving period and take full responsibility for it. To my suprise, BestBuy's creditor HSBC had apparently sold my account to CORPORATE RECEIVABLES without my knowledge.

A little while goes by and I get a call from a man claiming to work for CR and that I had an outstanding balance that I now owed them. This guy was very nice an unfortunatly I did not know his name, but I was able to set up a few large payments over the course of 4 months. My total debt was $1900. I had made my first payment without complications.

I had called CR to find out if it were possible to change my next payment slightly since money was very tight this month with it being the Holiday season. This man, "Eric Mason" then flips out on me immediatly telling me how immature and irresponsible I am. He proceeds to tell me this is an IMPOSSIBILITY and that he is extending me a favor by not charging me any more interest. I then asked if my only recourse was to place a stop payment on their check (which they fill out and sign themselves)?.

This triggered much verbal abuse and very rude comments for more than 5 minutes without me saying 1 word. He then handed the phone off to a guy claiming to be "BEN COLLINS" who further told me how irresponsible I am and that I know nothing about credit, as well as "you need to learn to pay for last Christmas before you can get any gifts this Christmas." I love how these people are such moral leaders and believe that they know any 1 persons situation, thus allowing them to force criticism and negative advice in your ears!

Ben ended our conversation by informing me that If I place a stop payment on there check, it was going to drop our "contract" and I will be liable for the full ammount immediatly, in addition to him promising to destroy my credit! He then proceeded to tell me he was reporting to my bank and credit bureaus that I refuse to pay and that I said specifically "they are not a priority"....NONE OF WHICH I SAID!Before I could say anything Ben had hung up on me.

This really got me angry but I still remained calm and was never rude or unprofessional to these gentleman despite their repeated abusive language. This is important that you remain calm because they want you to yell and fight back at them, this is what they FEED on. You try being mean and rude consistantly to someone who is nothing but NICE to you, its a hard thing to do.

I felt the only thing I could do is to write a letter to this company about how incredibly rude and abusive these two gentleman were ([email protected] who is the only listed email contact for the company), hoping to inform this company of how their employees are acting.

Less than 2 hours after I sent the letter, I received a phone call from a guy claiming to be "Jack Nickles" from CR and that he had been fowarded my letter from Amandah in HR. He then proceeded to tell me he was responding to it because it stated in my letter that "any response would be appreciated." I then said, "Okay Jack, so what did you call to speak about?"

He flipped out before I even finished my sentance and yelled at me saying "Clearly this is not going to work out, you only want to argue. How would you like if I just ripped up your deal right now? Would you like that? Is that what you want me to do?" I told him, "I didnt say anything at all, why are you yelling at me? Did you call me just to yell at me?" His response is, "You are clearly only looking for an argument and this is not getting anywhere."

After he finally stopped yelling for a second, I informed him I no longer wanted to speak with anyone from his company until I had a recorder so these conversations can be recorded." He then told me that I can use 5 recorders, he is still ripping up my "contract" with them. End of conversation.

If you have read this and feel the same thing has happened to you, please google search this company until you are tired of reading negative stories. PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS COMPANY AND THE WAY THEY DEAL.

You have options, some of which I am in the process of doing. Report them to the BBB, FTC, and State Atourney General's office of Arizona/Texas. Also contact the original creditor and inform them of the situation and that you would like to pay them directly! This does work sometimes!

Reporting them is fine and dandy, but SUING them for federal law violations is BETTER. I suggest you vist the FTC website www.ftc.gov and search for the following laws (you'll be able to download them for latter review): Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Fair Credit Reporting Act Fair Credit Billing Act Federal Trade Commission (creation) Act Truth in Lending Act Once you're familiar with the first 3, you're ready to set up and SUE the next 3rd party debt collector who violates the FDCPA and FCRA.

About 5 years ago, I fell behind in payments to Rooms To Go, and my account was turned over to Corporate Receivables. I too had to endure weeks of extremely unprofessional and abusive behavior from one 'Kevin Nash'. To say that he was the most rude and vile human being I've had the "pleasure" to encounter would be an enormous understatement. All of the phone calls were nightmares, with him being condescending and threatening some kind of legal action every time. Like others, I received the moral and financial lectures from these total strangers, and as others have said, their superiors were just as verbally abusive as their subordinates. I finally settled for less than I owed on my account, but I was glad to pay the lump sum just to have peace of mind and end the daily harassing calls. Please, people, do not make the same mistakes that I did. They have no right to harass you like this. Do not talk with them on the phone if they become abusive. Record the calls (they are), and report them for this kind of behavior.

BILL COLL.....PLEASE STOP POSTING ON MY TOPIC! IM ASKING NICELY.

BILL COLL, PLEASE DO NOT POST ON MY TOPIC ANYMORE, IT IS NOT A DISCUSSION OF HOW YOU OPERATE YOUR APPARENT BUSINESS (WHICH PROBABLY DOESNT DO WELL IF YOU ACT THE SAME WAY TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!) 1. YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TURN OFF THE CAPS BUTTON, Its just this easy.....try it. 2. I would not be suprised if you actaully worked for Corporate Receivables, considering your initial ABUSIVE response which was not only un-warrented, but also down right rude and out of left field. You are transparent, we can see right through your comments and still recoginize a FAKE! 3. YOU ARE A COLLECTOR FOR AN AGENCY, it is painfully obvious! So stop posting as a concerned consumer trying to give "advice". You are the scum that I and others are posting about, its people like you specifically! If you dont like hearing peoples reasons for certain things (or whining as you put it), it might be a good time to get out of the customer service industry...you clearly haven't learned in all of your years how to be respectful of others your dealing with (after all.....its THEY that are paying YOU, giving you a place to make your living). I am 24 and have learned to have more RESPECT for others and their situations BECAUSE I know nothing about them or their situation/reason! 3. If you had a CONSTRUCTIVE COMMENT, then I might understand your multiple posts to my topic! But honestly, you dont deserve to respond to my topic because of what your are, where you work, and the childish age you act. GROW UP. 4. I am not a "SHE". Lets get this straight, I am a 220lb fully grown male ("HE") who isn't going to allow others such as BILL COLL to be abusive and rude to me with absolutly no reason whatsoever!

SORRY I DIDNT GET A CHANCE TO RESPOND YET, BUT UNLIKE ROBERT, I HAVE A LIFE AWAY FROM ROR. PLUS IM STILL LMFAO OVER THE PREVIOUS POST YOU MADE. CHURCH PEOPLE ARE THE ONLY ONES GULLIBLE ENOUGH TO THINK THAT AN UNEMPLOYED SHUT IN SUCH AS YOURSELF WOULD BE ABLE TO HELP THEM MAKE CREDIT DECISIONS. AS FAR AS YOUR QUESTIONS GO, I KNOW THEY WERE ON HERE THE OTHER DAY, BUT FOR SOME REASON, ITS NO LONGER ON THE PAGE. I DONT KNOW IF IT WAS REMOVED OR IF ITS ANOTHER ROR GLITCH AS SOMETIMES POSTS DISAPPEAR FOR A WHILE. SO PLEASE REPOST ALTHOUGH I WILL CHECK TOMMORROW. AS FAR AS JOHNS QUESTION, I DOUBT IF ANY OF THE WHINNERS THAT POST ON HERE ARE IN MY DEMOGRAPHIC AS I REQUIRE MY CLIENTS TO GIVE UP THE CRYBABY ADDITUDE IF I AM TO HELP THEM RESOLVE THEIR ISSUES. I DONT YELL AT PEOPLE UNLESS THE POST IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. IF YOU NOTICED, MY SECOND POST ON THIS WAS NOT MEAN AT ALL CAUSE SHE SEEMS TO WANT TO RESOLVE THIS & I RESPECT THAT.

WE believe you. All of the USA and Canada doesn't believe you but WE DO. She's already seen through your crap. Let me know when you're going to respond to the questions I put to you. Seems you still haven't been able to locate that all elusive "Cap Lock" key either! There is NO way you're making a living counseling folks about credit, or anything else for that matter. Not with the attitude you project. Word would get around your block pretty quickly. PHONEY!!! LOL!

JUST SO YOU KNOW, IM NOT A CREDITOR. I MAKE MY LIVING TEACHING CONSUMERS HOW TO HAVE GOOD CREDIT AND/OR INCREASE THEIR CREDIT SCORES. I DONT POST ON HERE TO PICK ON PEOPLE, EVEN THOUGH A FEW PEOPLE SEEM TO PAINT ME THAT WAY. AS FAR AS THIS AGENCY GOES, FROM YOUR POST,THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING ILLEGAL NOR DO MOST OF THE AGENCIES THAT ARE POSTED ON HERE. I CAN TELL YOU, LAST YEAR THIS COMPANY TRIED TO RECRUIT ME & AFTER A SHORT INTERVIEW I COULD TELL THEY WERE A BUNCH OF OVER AGRESSIVE NIMRODS. & NOT VERY ORGANIZED. NOW, I DID AT ONE TIME, WORK FOR HOUSEHOLD AUTO, WHICH WAS PURCHASED BY HSBC A FEW YRS AGO. WHAT PEOPLE WITH SUB PRIME CREDIT DONT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND, IS THAT THERE WASNT ALWAYS AN OPTION AVAILABLE TO THOSE PEOPLE. NOT TOO LONG AGO, SOMEONE WITH SUB-PAR CREDIT COULDNT GET A LOAN AT ALL UNLESS IT WAS FOR SOMETHING LIKE INSURANCE. BACK THEN PEOPLE WHINNED & CRIED UNTIL REGULATORS ALLOWED THE SUBPRIME INDUSTRY TO EXIST. LOANS WERE HARD TO GET BECAUSE THEY REQUIRED LARGE DOWN PAYMENTS BUT THEY WERE ALMOST ALWAYS REPAID SO THE INDUSTRY BEGAN TO LOWER ITS STANDARDS TO ALLOW MORE PEOPLE TO GET CREDIT, WHILE ALLOWING THEMSELVES TO TAP INTO A LARGER CUSTOMER BASE. BUT, AS WITH ANYTHING THAT IS DONE TO GIVE PEOPLE AN EXTRA BREAK, IT WAS ABUSED BY A LOT OF PEOPLE. THESE LENDERS ARE TAKING A BIG CHANCE LENDING MONEY TO PEOPLE THAT NEVER SEEM TO PAY BACK LOANS AS AGREED. NOT FOR LONG THOUGH, REGULATORS ARE ALREADY TIGHTEN ING UP REQUIREMENTS ON MORTGAGES AND IT WONT BE LONG UNTIL OTHER CREDIT TYPES WILL BE TIGHTENED. SOON YOU WILL BE BACK TO 20% DOWN PAYMENTS ON CARS. & NO UNSECURED CREDIT CARDS FOR SUBPRIME BORROWERS. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR THE COMPLAINTS TO ROLL IN? AS FAR AS COLLECTION AGENCY COMPLAINTS, MOST ARE FROM PEOPLE THAT DONT PAY THEIR BILLS & ARE LOOKING FOR A WAY OUT. COLLECTIONS IS NOT AN EASY JOB. THEY DEAL WITH A LOT OF SCUMBAGS THAT NEVER PLANNED TO PAY WHEN THEY MADE THE CHARGES. IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU WANT TO DEAL WITH THIS. SEE IF THEY WILL LET YOU MAKE A HALF PAYMENT FOR DEC & MAKE UP THE REST ON THE JAN PAYMENT. THAT WOULD BE A FAIR COMPOMISE. I WOULD NOT LISTEN TO THE "ADVICE GIVERS" ON HERE, AS MOST OF THEM ARE UNEMPLOYED OR HOUSEWIVES. I LAUGH AT SOME OF THE ABSURD WAYS THESE GUYS TELL PEOPLE TO TO AVOID COLLECTORS AND CREDITORS. IM SURE THESE PEOPLE DONT APPLY THE ADVICE TO THEIR OWN LIVES, RATHER THEY WANT TO USE PEOPLE LIKE YOU AS GUINNI PIGS

HSBC is an agressive company in going after delinquent accounts, but even they won't sell your account after just two missed payments. Actually until you hit 90 days late they usually keep it "in-house". This is because they would much rather get you current and not have to pay an outside company to collect the debt. After 90 days they will either sell or assign the debt. Some creditors will send you a final "pay or else we will turn this over to collections" letter, but thery are not required to. Now, you should NEVER talk to a creditor over the phone. The first thing you should have done is sent them a letter notifying them that all communication is to be by mail. If they fail to obide by this, once they receive the letter, you can sue them for violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act(FDCPA). Doing this one thing will cut out these abuses from about 95% of the collection agencies. The next thing is to send them a payment offer in the mail stating the amount of the payments and date of the payments. If you send them the same offer they had agreed to before, they will agree to it. You NEVER send any money to them in advance until you have this agreement in writting.

What we have here is CREDITORS posting against debtors posts....

I do have this debt, I do want to pay it off. Why I chose to post my situation with them is because 1. They are extremely rude and have it comming to them for quite some time now 2. They failed to follow Federal Law guidelines regarding proper collection agency practices. 3. CR has actually broken 4+ guidelines/laws to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act which is an ammendment to the Consumer Credit Protection Act. 4. They dont believe there is ANYTHING wrong with the way they do business. If you are a creditor, please tell me that this is the same way your company does it's business....please. I fully accept the fact that I had made a couple mistakes in dealing with this particular account. I do not need/want criticism on what my reasoning is for making those mistakes. As for this particular shady company, you don't know all of the facts, if I were to post them I would be typing for hours. Thus, keep your OPINIONS to yourself, this is a site that allows people to post, in part, their situation if they feel they have been wronged or ripped-off. Yes I have scheduled these payments with an apparent collection agency which has HUNDREDS of complaints filed against them monthly. If you think this company is just getting the wrap of a typical "collection agency", I emplore you to google search the company and read what you find!

SOME CONSUMERS NEVER LEARN

#13Consumer Comment

1ST OF ALL, BANKS DONT SELL ACCTS THAT ARE 2 PAYMENT PAST DUE, THEY PLACE THEM. SO AFTER SKIPPING 2 PAYMENTS, THEY PLACED YOUR ACCT WITH AN AGENCY.(2 PAYMENTS THAT COULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR CHRISTMAS) THEN, THE AGENCY WAS GRACIOUS ENOUGH TO ALLOW YOU TO PAY THE ACCT IN 4 INSTALLMENTS TO AVOID YOU DAMAGING YOUR CREDIT ANY FURTHER. SO WHAT DO YOU DO? YOU BALK ON THE ARRANGEMENT ON THE SECOND PAYMENT!! EVERY RESPONSIBLE ADULT HAS TO IMPROVISE DUE TO THEIR CURRENT CIRCUMSTANCES. IN MY LIFE, I HAVE HAD TO DO IT & SO HAS MOST PEOPLE WITH GOOD CREDIT. SOMETIMES, AS ADULTS, WE HAVE TO EITHER CUT BACK ON CHRISTMAS PRESENTS OR DELAY THOSE PRESENTS UNTIL OUR FINANCIAL SITUATION IMPROVES. THATS WHAT SEPARATES CONSUMERS FROM DEBTORS. AFTER ALL, CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT TOGETHERNESS & FAMILY, NOT HOW MUCH MONEY ONE SPENDS. ITS LIKE THE PEOPLE THAT I USED TO TALK TO THAT NEVER SEEMED TO HAVE ENOUGH TO "GET BY" OR "SURVIVE" OR ANY OF THE OTHER CREATIVE TERMS THEY WOULD COME UP WITH. BUT SUDDENLY, THEY WOULD TAKE OFF ON A WEEKS VACATION. OR, MY FAVORITE DEBTOR MOVE, AFTER THEY CRY THE BLUES ABOUT NOT BEING ABLE TO EAT CAUSE OF BEING ON DISABILITY, THEN YOU CALL ONE DAY & SOMEONE TELLS YOU THAT THE DEBTOR GOT HIS/HER DISABILITY CHECK & WENT TO THE CASINO. THE POINT IS, IF SOMEONE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE ENOUGH TO TO DEAL WITH CREDIT AS A RESPONSIBLE ADULT, THEY SHOULD REFRAIN FROM OPENING THE ACCT

as most collection agencies will not allow a payment plan. You should consider doing without something in order to keep the plan or you will be in court. And to answer your question: "I had called CR to find out if it were possible to change my next payment slightly since money was very tight this month with it being the Holiday season." "I love how these people are such moral leaders and believe that they know any 1 persons situation, thus allowing them to force criticism and negative advice in your ears!" As you can see from your own admission, you gave them your alleged personal situation as an excuse.

Bill, While I do find it sad that collection companies speak to people in the way they have spoken to you, I do not think you have been ripped off. They are simply attempting to collect a debt that you owe. I am not judging you on your circumstances, I do not know them and they are none of my business, however I am sure they have heard all of the excuses imaginable from the people they speak with daily. I am sure they grow tired of the same 'ole excuses. This still does not give them the right to speak with you as they did. I hope this situation is worked out to your best interests.
