Consumers USA, Vermont ..After cancelling your credit card beware of hidden charges
I was recently scammed by a telemarket outfit in vt. Consumers usa.. I had to go to Atty Gen to get things straightened out and was paid back the 380.00.. but what it caused me was this.. They
had my credit card no.. so I cancelled out ALL OF MY CREDIT CARDS..Paid everything off... well thinking I was all clear NOT.. I kept getting bills for interest and chgs that I never auth.. I called them and they said the add chgs were for two or three groups of companies that were charging me for protection plans that I never auth..
I have now finally got them all paid off but raised hell with them for not stepping in and protecting me from scams like the telemarket group that got to me. I told them that what they should have done..the Atty Gen did their work.. but I still had to pay them...
My msg is this.. when you cancel out a credit card.. make sure you tell them you are not auth any more charges to your cancelled card.. Tell them you will go to an Atty before you pay one more cent.. Please people look over your statements
very closely and watch for these unauthorized charges... This is just a warning message to watch those credit card companies...
