Amendment to this Ripoff complaint: I have recently received a message from: { [email protected] } endeavering to approach this complaint! I stated that all things pertaining to the account which I was overseeing had been resolved. In my 'OPINION' , only was this resolved after my making the "Ripoff Report" . Why is it with most lending institutions, the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing? It seems the collection department is very adament and arrogant in dealing with late payments with no regard to the feelings of the lender! The Government for the people, by the people, & of the people need to take a serious look at the practices of lending institutions, and I FEEL THAT MEANS ALL LENDING INSTITUTIONS! Or is it that most of our Politicians are only concerned with "Themselves" and how they can better the situation for themselves????

IT NEEDS SEWRIOUS THOUGHT !!!!

************************************************************************************************************

I have had some very bad experiences with personnel who work at the manufactured homes division in Rapid City, South Dakota!!!

I don't know what your policy is in calling a person about a pass due account, especially on Sunday evening around 7:45 pm EST. It really perplexes me when I get a call from such a person who goes to the very edge of trying to extort me. I was informed money on the account was on her desk right now, default proceedings would be started immediately....The person whose account I am speaking of died on June 14,2000. He had insurance coverage and Conseco was contacted for papers regarding insurance claim on June 16,2000. On July 3,2000 all necessary papers were sent to American Bankers Assurance Company of Florida.

The claim was processed and check was mailed to the Conseco Agency, Inc 1400 Turbine Drive Rapid City SD on August 17,2000 It was for the payoff of the account. In contacting American Bankers found that the office in Rapid City had been notified by American Bankers Assurance company the check had been sent to them. Nevertheless, in talking with Stephanie Menten, I was told the check was not there and she tried to get me to give her my checking account number. Of course, I would not do that. I realize your company is a large conglomerate stretched throughout the United States of America and many foreign countries as a lending institution and also many Insurance companies assigned to Conseco.

The day I talked with her was Monday August 28,2000.. Never at that time was I informed a letter had preceded our conversation which was dated August 21, 2000 with papers wanting the property surrendered to Conseco and a Power of Attorney Signed giving Conseco this Power of Attorney. These papers will not be signed by any parties involved with this situation.

The policy of Greentree Finance, Now ConSeco Finance as your web page denotes was never stated on any contract as to repossesion of secured property because of late payments. It is stated that a late charge of $ 3.00 would be added for late charges. It is hard enough to try to get finances straight after the death of a loved on. If any one every losses a husband, father, brother, or sister then they know what this is like. I tried to talk with those at Rapid City , only to be told certain personnel " That's not my responsibility"! Many of the statements to me , as I said, in my opinion were on the very edge of " Extortion". Does Conseco try repossesion if account is just 2 months late????? We are not trying to avoid payment of this account, only trying to get some answers. By the way, It best be avoided setting on this check at Rapid City if it has been received at that division.
