I purchased a laptop computer from CompUSA in December, 2004. This particular computer had a special rebate offer of $400.00. What a deal!!

I mailed my rebate off January 13, 2005. The rebate form said to give a certain number of weeks for delivery and asked for an E-mail address where communication could be sent to.

Toward the end of a 60 day period I got on line at Wheresmyrebate.com and could not get any information because it required an access code. Finally, on Mar 16, 2005 I received an E-mail from CompUSA saying that my check had been mailed and I should allow 8-10 days for the mail delivery.

I waited and the check did not arrive so I called the number the Rebate Center had given and was told that the mail delivery would take up to 15 days because the check had been mailed third class. A postal employee told me third class is bulk rate!! It's Junk Mail!! Who would ever send a $400.00 check by the way of Junk Mail?!? What Irresponsibility!! So I waited the 15 days and still no check.

When I called the Rebate Center number again, (914) 633-0977, I was told I needed to wait 37 more days and then call back. Then I would be sent another check. After researching CompUSA on the Internet I have learned CompUSA has a long history of not paying people their rebates. I am not going to allow this to get out of hand. Why should I have to wait several months because of incompetence on the part of CompUSA? Or is this all just a ploy trying to rip me off for my rebate?

The sales people at CompUSA are really skilled at high pressure sales. You have all heard the routines of, "It's the last day of the sale", "It's the last day of the special financing", or ,"You get a Rebate!!" "Rebate??" ... No Thanks.!!

In the future if you want to sell me something just deduct that rebate off the selling price right there in the store like a company of integrity should do. No gimmicks.
