Like everyone else my v6000 died yesterday. After researching the internet and finding all the problems with this model and the recall from Hewlett Packard I will post the following.
Machine just keeps restarting with no video.
I have owned this model for 4 years. During that time I have sent it back for wireless issues. The Battery is toast has been for 3 year s and have had to had it plugged in to work, called HP and it was not under the recall as a lot of batteries were.
Today I called about it being dead and what trouble shooting I had done, and about the recall which is all over the internet, although all links now are dead because of time limits. I was told they would trouble shoot over the phone for 59.95 and if it didn't work they would refund my money, That was a no go for me as I had already done this ALL DAY LONG, 59.95 HUM. Next option as i complained about the recall which they didn't acknowledge, was to sent a tech out to preform test and replace card that was bad. Card??? ( could not really understand what she was saying as they were not american) for 179.00 on the 19th. That's a no go either.
E bay has listing after listing of these MB for sale cheap, only problem is for parts only no video or bad video chip DUH.
So now i'm stuck with a laptop with a junk battery, no wifi, and no video just keeps restarting, guess I will just turn off the lights and watch the pretty blue lights go on and off.
Compaq had my address and email from when they serviced this unit before and should have notified me of the bad motherboard issue to fix it.
So I will call my Attorney general tomorrow maybe just maybe they will help.
