We were approached by a door to door-salesmen who turned out to be a home invader named Randy Pribut his business card and title read- Food Consultant (CONSUMER BEWARE).

The sales pitch was you save all this money and you don't even have to wait in line or even drive to the grocery store we bring it to you but only every eight months by (our trucks) We asked how the delivery was possible since we had never heard of the company before. We were assured they have trucks all over. After a continued smooth sales pitch about the company being around since 1956 and the superior meat quality and price on meat , detergent, and dried goods the home invader worked a menu for this year and showed us our whopping savings of 200.00 a month or 2,400.00 a year.

We explained to him how tight our budget was paying off additional debts due to our our business going under last year. We also were excited to tell him we have a baby on the way and if this savings was true he was a god send.

So we signed a contract for food and a (frost free freezer and their (Bionic Ironic Protection Policy) on the freezer in case the freezer failed we would get a 100% replacement of any food spoiled due to freezers failure.

Payments were to be $300.00 a month for eight month supply of food consisting of steaks, hamburger patties, chicken breasts, salmon, halibut, dried foods and detergent.We agreed to start up with Colorado Prime foods after the first of January 2003 but were denied credit with them.

Then 3 weeks later I get a call from Phone Invader-Lisa Musik informing me that Randy Pribut has been terminated along with the credit provider and that our credit would be accepted. I refused.because I did not feel right about her flagrant lack of remorse for a fellow employee and abrupt change in credit provider. Then 20 min. later I get a call from Tony the vice president of Colorado Prime (WOW)I thought, he explained to me Randys dismiss and change in creditor was because of a merger that I would be informed about by letter stating recent company changes.

I never got that letter. But did feel special that a vice president would take the time to personally talk to me and not only that take 50% off my food bill lowering my payments to 150.00 and offer me a free cheesecake,

tritip and a rack of ribs as an apology for credit denial and to show us how bad they wanted us as a customer. It was an incredible offer So I gave him a verbal OK and they send the freezer the delivery man tells me to keep it for a few days so it will be at optimum temperature for our delivery.

1week passes 2weeks pass and finally bewildered on our missing delivery I call customer service to ask where our food shipment was and got a most unpleasant New York lady barking with haggard frustration that the company is no longer in the grocery business Lisa Musik has been Fired! Tony the vice president of the company was fired and if we wanted food we needed to order it and pay for it up front before delivery that's a total of 2,498.98 without the 50% discount which she barked was void due to terminations even though I have it written on my bill.

Also she angrily informed be if i wanted the food order I would have to pay for shipping and handling with FED EX. We have contacted Colorado Prime Foods 5 times by phone and they are insistent we keep the freezer that is a piece of junk made by Whirlpool the frost builds up even empty if I were to keep it on for three months Id have a giant solid block of ice. I asked Colorado Prime Foods to take back their freezer since they can not fulfill the contract they refused

The reason this hurts my family so bad is we cannot afford to pay for a defective freezer that is not being used. The only reason we agreed to get the freezer was because the only way they could deliver the food was once every 8months.

We are a struggling family family in need of help instead we got Colorado Prime Food Corporation?

If we were just caught up in a hostile take over what can we do? Please help us clear up this matter!

I am unclear about how much money might have been lost, however contrary to "sneering-ex-employees" opinion, you cannot just get scammed. There are LAWS in this country,and with the nature of the violations you specified, this is potentially serious. The full address/phone for Consumer Affairs is: 400 R Street, Sacramento, CA, 95814, 1-800-952-5210. Here is another to consider: California Consumer Protection Foundation, Sebastopol, CA, 95472, 707-829-5626. These are free of charge. Try both and compare the best options. You may also want to consider contacting your Attorney General: State of California Attorney General Office, Post Office Box 944255, Sacramento, CA, 94244, 916-445-9555. What ever you do, ACT NOW, this company is going through bizare reincarnations. The New York BBB has a nasty report and a good report back to back, but consistently corporate headquarters are in Farmingdale, New York. Just access www.newyork.bbb.org press the tab for Consumers, and type in Colorado Prime Corporation, to see for yourself. They have extra phone numbers there as well, which I am not comfortable listing, because this is a changing company right now. Try to see what kind of assistance you can recieve from the two consumer protection/affairs businesses listed. Major food packing, planning or delivering corporations are NOT small governments and cannot just do whatever the hell they want. They have to be held accountable, and if necessary in the court of law. I pray you have a safe delivery of your baby, and don't let these dumb yahoos upset you. "If we were just caught up in a hostile take over what can we do?" Are you serious? You really don't understand that what has happened to you is a SCAM? How may pictures does that company have to draw for you before you smell the rat? And they won't take that nice freezer back? How shocking.
