Welcome City of Mesa Arizona Animal Control Wall of Shame !

Please forward this to everyone you know if you go to the web address it is a fast simple form to send a message to the Mayors Office about the needless suffering of an animal that one of his departments is allegedly suppose to protect.

I begged and pleaded with them to please help this poor defenseless little kitty. Apparently they could have cared less, this was the saddest thing I have ever seen. All the lady on the phone said she could do is fine the owners of the Kitty if we could find them. Its all about money I guess I am ashamed to call myself a resident of Mesa Arizona.

Please read this letter sent to the Mayor.

Complaint City of Mesa Arizona Animal Control

Dear Sir's

I am with XXXXX XXX Home Owners Association I am witting this letter of complaint to advise you of the appalling response I received from Animal Control via phone call made 12/30/2008 @ 3:40 PM. A resident reported a foul smell coming from a foreclosed unit I contacted the Bank who owns the property for permission to enter the unit. Upon entry I found a broken window and a cat suffering on the floor from lack of food and water.

I called the Animal Control office 11 times only to receive a recording. I then called the Mesa Police and they then connected me to Animal Control. I explained to the "supervisor" about the situation she told me that I would need to bring this dying smelling cat to the shelter myself as she would not be sending an officer. She claimed that they would all be busy until tomorrow.

I explained to her that the poor cat smelled so bad and I could not even approach it with out loosing my lunch and that it was bleeding out its mouth. Advise like telling a citizen to pick up a dead/injured animal is bad advise at best and a great way to have a lawsuit happen if someone was to get sick or injured by handling an animal who is near death.

I am furious that this poor animal is still lying dying in this unit and I received no response and a rude refusal from this woman on the phone. Another resident was horrified at the city's non- response and took pictures and video of this poor suffering creature and plans to take them to federal authorities and the news.

We work closely with this city including police, traffic and other agencies and are in disbelief on how this whole situation was handled. This is a living and breathing creature that suffered or is still suffering because of this departments failure. The community is disappointed and shocked and I am sure you have not heard the last of this as residents are raging mad. Please tell our mayor what you think copy and paste this link to contact him.

Please go to the city of mesa AZ web site and contact code compliance director or animal control and let him know what you think. Make sure you mention the address of 461 W. Holmes Ave # 170 in Mesa AZ. They picked up the poor cat this morning and it was dead. Please look up the listing for the city of mesa animal control and tell them how you feel about this. This poor cat suffered a horrible death and the reason I was given this morning is they would not allow any overtime. What a crock ! Bet that poor kitty who suffered could have cared less about overtime.
