I booked our Cruise Vacation in early June I took a plan that allowed us to be upgraded this cost $20.00 per person booked we had 4 people. The information that Carnival had given me that with an early booking chances were we would get bumped up as the ship filled up. I felt this was worth it.

Upon arrival we had found out that we were in fact bumped up to the empress level the cabin # 7138, I was very excited about this as I had been looking at the ship (Destiny) from Carnival's web site. Upon embarking we were held up for many more minutes than other passengers the gentleman helping us seemed perplexed and was going from carnival personnel to personnel. He came back and apologized it seemed that someone else was in our cabin and we would have to go to the purser's desk for our information. Our cabin assignment changed to 2331, the main floor. We went to the pursers desk and I asked why this change from the 7th floor to the 2nd floor. The 7th floor was suites and the 2nd floor was cabins. The woman working the purser's desk would not give me any information. She told me we would never have been bumped up to a suite. I asked to see the roster that the person had that originally told us we had 7138 she told me she did not have one I asked her to get one so I could indeed show her we were assigned to this room.

They gave us our key to 2331. When we went down there some one else's luggage was outside the door, our luggage was nowhere to be seen. I went back to the purser's desk and told her that some one else's luggage was there and ours was not, this was not our room. She told me it was and she would have the luggage removed and would send our luggage down. When we went back to room 2331 and entered a small cabin not meant for the 4 people (my husband, myself & 2 children) it was very small and the 4th bed offered was a small cot for someone under 4ft tall, we found a bottle of champagne and a thank you note to other people other than us.

I then went back to the purser with this info I was extremely upset and said all I wanted was my own room, with my own bottle of Champagne (with this aggravation I felt Carnival owed me at least this). They told me I could not have the 7th floor room, I told them at this point that wasn't what I was asking for, I just wanted a room meant for my party.

They gave me 2331 as that was all they had available. In the course of these confrontations the purser blamed my travel agent at one point and the Long Shore Man at another. I told them the error was within Carnival, she told me, "No Carnival did not make the error".

After being in cabin 2331 I did receive a phone call from the purser that they did originally have me in 7138 but now the ship was full and there was nothing that could be done and to enjoy the other groups Champagne, that was all Carnival would do for me. The main floor where 2331 is located had no air-conditioning and was located at the far end of the ship. This was not the way for me to start off my cruise. I don't think I will be using Carnival again in my future cruises.
