I sttled a past due account with Capital one about 6 years ago when I was very sick and had about 15 surgeries and I was 100% disabled. When I started getting SSI, I agreed to a settlement offer from Capital one, and they said once that was cleared, my account would be restored. Now after more than 5 years of no negative reports and after my credit was in very good shape again, I started getting phone calls wanting me to pay another $500.00 to a debt that was settled. Capital One drafted my checking account for almost 1 year for about $180.00. The bank that they drafted changed names and then it was sold to First Citizens Bank and I cannot get my statements from back then. I have a $9000. Visa from Bank Of America, and I went from having a $300.00 limit on a HSBC Mastercard to a $2300.00 limit which is unsecured. I have gas cards, and department store cards, and I pay at least $1000.00 to $1300.00 to the Bank Of America card. I used that to put in a nigrtherapy bath tub for my 80 year old mother who had to dangerous colon surgeries to remove 2 large tumore=s, and she also had to have a colonostomy. I also put in a handicapp toilet. Now I want to buy a SUV or a larger car then the little Sunfire I bought when gas was $4.00 a gallon, and these theives put a negative mark on my credit report. Until then, I had zero derogatory marks on my reort. It showed I pay my bills ahead of time and more than what is due. I could pay Capital One $500.00 again, then they will say oops.,you owe us more. What can I do. I wish I would have never heard of them. I ,like a idiot told that agency that there was not even any Capital one accounts on my credit reports. They are blackmailing me. What can I do? I know what will never be in my wallet again. Stay away from Capital one. I could not help getting sick, but I did not keep the money they lent me via a credit card. We reached a settlement that was favorable to them, and now they suddenly start saying I owe them $500.00. We all know that those boiler room collection agencies pay 2 cents on the dollar for old debts and they lie and call 12 times a day. I can only guess that $500.00 was the late fee;s Capital One waived as long as I did not miss a payment. I did not miss any, and now they are destroying my credit after I worked so hard to restore it. They are crooks. I am not paying or I will never get out from under them trying to scam me. Good Luck to all who have been scammed.
