John So John, you must be the one who was posting all those fake customer reviews on MovingScam, since the person who claimed to have such wonderful service from All My Sons said the same things you just did.

Kay in Blacksburg, you are knowledgelable and helpful. Thanks!!! I have recently been scammed, and am willing to help ANYONE who is either looking for a mover or is currently at the mercy of scam movers. I have done hours and hours of research, check this site every few weeks for more horror stories, and do everything in my power to get the information needed to those who need it. First tip: DO NOT USE A BROKER!!! Ask anyone you deal with if they are a broker. Especially avoid National Moving Network!! Second tip: Avoid anyone with a connection to Miami, that's where the business is centered. Third tip: Find the "rights and responsibilites when you move" book (on the DOT's website) and read it cover to cover, it tells you a lot of what you need to know. Fourth (and most important) tip: tell whoever you hire upfront that you will record any and all conversations. If they run away, good. If they stay, then you have then on record and they cannot trick you with anything. READ ALL PAPERWORK, even if it means having the mover sit there, not moving, while you read. And finally: Allow for several extra days when you move. DOn't assume they'll come on the day you hire them for. Check out the two websites for moving scam information, there's a lot of good stuff. www.movingadvocatesteam.com, Also, read as many reports here as possible, and post here what you know. You'll note the same names keep popping up. You may have more luck with a company in your area. If you can walk into their office for the information and paperwork you need, you can see what they're like. Plus, if you can come into their office at will, then it will be harder for them to scam you without facing you. Good luck!

Movex, Inc. has been incorporated in Tampa, Florida since 1991. It is not now, nor has it ever been associated with any organization titled Moving Express. Movex, Inc. is a self-service moving company. The customer loads, Movex drives and the customer unloads. Movex utilizes fully equipped air-ride moving vans and provides its customers with loading ramps, furniture pads, tie down straps and dollies. Movex is not a full service moving company and does not change its pricing while enroute. Movex charges a flat rate for each move and that price is provided in advance of the move in a written, binding contract.

Listing your complaint on many Government links sometimes are no better than the BBB and are most likely just a waste of time, giving you false hope. Many government sites (like the BBB) just collect all information from you, the consumer, but never make that information available for all to see, so consumers will NOT be educated as to what exactly they should be looking out for. By these agencies not letting you see these complaints, making them public, you never know how bad the company or individual rip-off really is. On the other hand, many government agencies have and do come to the Rip-off Report for information. We have been assisting many government agencies for some time now, including the FBI and Attorney General offices from around the country.. Now that all these Rip-off Reports are out in the open for everyone to see, in a way, this embarrasses these agencies into doing something when they see so many reports on a Company or Individual, because they are now out in the open for all to see. Unfortunately, many (not all) Attorney General Office's and government agencies will not move against a rip-off unless you are well connected, or there is going to be some sort of publicity on the rip-off. By reporting your experience on the Rip-off Report, is the next best thing to getting your story on TV or in a newspaper. Most national TV networks and many local TV stations from all around the country also come to the Rip-off Report for information they will not get from the BBB, Attorney General office's or any other government agency. Rip-off Report has instigated many local and national stories, resulting in help for victims' world wide, in one way or another. Most government agencies will never even bother with rip-offs unless it involves $50,000 or more. Now that government is cutting back even more dollars for these types of programs, this number will even get higher and we can expect even less to get done, by even less people to work on all these rip-offs. Additionally, by filing a Rip-off Report, you might be contacted by us notifying you to contact a law firm that has shown interested in your case.

Lila,
Sorry this happened to you. I posted some information on your other message about Moshe Schneider.
Please take the time to complain to the Florida Attorney General, Bob Butterworth. You can also check out information about Century Express Van Lines (one of Schneider's companies) being fined by the DOT at this website: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/contactus/
press/02press.htm
you should also complain to the FMCSA through the above website.

I have recently been scammed by a moving company (who are currently holding my furniture hostage and are now not answering the phone) going under the names Focus Movers, Countrywide Van Lines, Shoreline Movers and S.I.A.A., Inc (which is supposedly the parent company).
Michael (aka Moshe) Schneider is the owner of these companies. I saw the name Schneider Van Lines on the Blacklist and I need to know why they are on the list as they are definitely the same company. All 5 companies are located in Sunrise Florida
PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

Mary Jo,
The company I hired was AAA VanLines out of south Florida. That company also uses the names Moving Systems, Advanced Moving Systems and Ameri Vanlines. But they subcontracted the job to a company called Eilid Moving and Storage out of Richmond Hills, New York. That company goes by the names In and Out Moving, On Budget Van Lines and OnLine Moving and Storage. You can find reports about these companies by doing a search on this website in both of these categories: "Moving and Storage" and "Moving Companies." The owners of Eilid were arrested in February for racketeering and again recently for extortion so they are supposed to be out of business. But Ameri Van Lines is still operating, under that name and probably under a couple of new names. Please look for some of the websites devoted exclusively to consumers who are moving, or who have had a bad experience with moving... not the AMSA (American Moving and Storage Association). That is a lobbyist group and it looks out for movers rather than consumers. The BBB cannot really be trusted; I checked with them and with the DOT before I hired my mover and I did not get the information I needed. Also, the CBS news recently ran a two-part story about moving scams; perhaps you can find that in their website archive. Hope this helps.

Mary Jo,
glad the above information is helpful. the company Moving Express of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida is a scam company with an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB. the other company Movex of Tampa, owned by Stuart and Ross Suddath is a different company and seems okay. the confusion about the two companies originated when the BBB listed them as the same company. hope this helps. please be careful; my own bad experience with moving was from your same area.
