I have been in the car business for over 10 years, I was hired at Bill Heard Sanford when they first opened,I had accepted a position offered by Mr. Joe Ruth (Genaral Manager)as Fleet /Commercial sales manager. In the 2 years I worked there I have to say it was the worst 2 years of my career. The public has no idea what the employees are subjected to for the company to achieve there monthly goals. Trust me,they will do whatever it takes. For example,in the short period I worked there the Sanford store went through 2 general managers 3 General sales managers and had sent out over 800 W-2's for all the sales persons that had worked there at some point. That is serious turnover! There was a morning meeting that I seriously did not want to attend, at this meeting I witnessed sales associates and managers getting absolutley ridiculed in front of the whole room. Things were said that I would not say to my worst enemy. I have seen managers almost fist fight over deals. As a matter of fact I personally was pushed in my chest and physically threatened by my manager over trying to sell a Duramax Diesel truck that was dealer traded and was on it's way to the dealership for inventory. The truck was just what my customer was looking for and my manager made it clear that I needed to worry about selling what was on the lot,and chose to make his point in the commercial building lobby with my salesman and a customer in the room, instead of trying to give the customer what they really wanted. This store was so desperate to make there numbers that they forced my commercial department to run all our commercial deals as retail deals so that they could count them for there monthly goal. When they did this they also charged the wonderfull $599 dealer pack to sanfords commercial customers! To the general public this is called a fleetail deal and in no way benefits the customer. It just puts more money in the GM's & GSM's pocket. One of the most embarrassing moments is when the media started exposing all the things that this store was doing, I was seriously embarrased to wear my Bill Heard shirt in public. I did not want this to be a reflection of how I do businees so I left the store in August of 2002 as many other managers did. As a matter of fact I have left the car business entirely. Good things come from doing things right and fair but no one can survive at this store long enough to ever experience this. And the sad part is the consumers are the ones that feel the effects of all this internal BS when they drive on the lot. This store had over 100 salesmen at one point when I was there, Can you imagine being the first customer of the day to drive up on this lot! And all that customer want's to do is find a vehicle that meets the needs and desires for themselves and there family. Dealers greed blocks the good judgment to understand this.

I cannot believe you would have the guts to come here and try and defend this NASTY organization of yours! Do you actually think people are THAT stupid?
Let's see... Bill Heard has 17 dealerships across the country. When you get bored enough try running a report on them through Better Business Bureau at http://www.bbb.com and see how many of your branches have TERRIBLE reports. Darnit you are even famous nationally thanks to the Dateline report on TV not too long ago!
But hey... let's stick with your SANFORD dealership! I worked there! In your used-cars department to be exact.
Tell me this... when customers ask for the price of a used vehicle, why don't you tell them? I have seen salesmen FIRED because of quoting prices on used cars. See, these consumers should know that by not quoting a price and sticking with your Downpayment and monthly payment quotes, you rip their heads off buy selling them a $5,000 car for $15,000 plus. Do you still have the bell at your sales desk to ring it everytime you make a $10,000 PLUS profit???
Did you guys stop forging the drivers licenses & creating false insurance coverages to get a deal bought? Do you still submarine trades to maximize sales from everyone who steps in your lot?
If you guys are so good at what you do and the consumers are the ones who get cold feet after their purchase, how come all your top managers starting from Joe R., Kendall, Jeff B., Dwayne S., Darryl S. left your organization? I will tell you why! Because it is a TOTAL EMBARRASSMENT being seen in public with a "Bill Heard Chevrolet" uniform on.
Of course you will blame them for the bad name your organization has now... but the truth of the matter is that THIS WAY OF BUSINESS is your ORGANIZATION's STANDARD. The names above did not run your Tennessee Branch or your Houston Branch, or did they?
Please, by all means, feel free to defend yourself as I can provide you with MORE cases of BAD BUSINESS you conduct day in and day out. & you know I have the proof. You don't believe me? Call your corporate office in GA and ask for your HEAD ATTORNEY. Mention my 1st name and you shall see.
You have a right to defend yourself and your organization. So did Mafia for years. But DON'T LIE to these consumers cause you, me and even them know what you are worth!
Is it truth that your Sanford Dealership is up for sale? Has it been sold yet? That would be a wise choice to leave the area and concentrate on your Plant City lot.

As an ex employee of Bill Heard Chevrolet I felt like it was my obligation to respond after reading all of the complaints folks have had about this dealership.
I don't care how hard a dealership or their staff works, they cannot make everyone satisfied. People will always have complaints. If it was Ford, Dodge or foreign vehicles there would be complaints.
I had worked for Bill Heard in Huntsville AL. for 3.5 years. Not one complaint here about that dealership. Could it be the management that cares at that store. Absolutely. Yes Buyer's have remorse. Get home in that new vehicle and all of a sudden it hits them. What have I done. I could have bought a house for what I paid for that Suburban. The thing is we all do it. It is not Bill Heard. Yes they are agressive, but never in all my years has anyone held a weapon to a customer's head and forced them to sign.
Bill Heard in Sanford, FL paid out a ton of money because of 2 salespeople being over agressive and making the customer feel threatened if she didn't sign. I asked my wife what she would have done had her keys been gone and they wouldn't let her leave. She said call the police or scream like hell and then walk to a phone (less than 100 feet from the dealership)and make a call to the police.
What it really appears to me happened was someone got too agressive and the customer got the new car (Cavalier) for free.
I am still in the car business with another dealer. I am 58 years old and a Christian. I am a Professional Truck Consultant, and proud of it. All car sales consultants are not theives. I make friends and the car deal is secondary. Funny that was how I was at Bill Heard in Huntsville, AL and was their salesman of the year for 2 years. ('99 and '2000) I worked for Sanford FL Bill Heard for 2 months but because of the above charges of certain customers and over reporting news media, Bill Heard's business (at that time)was ruined and I left for a dealership in Daytona Beach.
I would go back to Bill Heard in a heartbeat for a new Chevy and a job. They are a great dealership, that because of a few with credit problems or other hang-ups have damned near been ruined reputation wise in Sanford. FL.
By the way did you ever wonder who one of the largest employer's in Sanford is?

I, The Great Thorn feel that there is a great need for some Chevy dealers in Florida to have a free closing tool. Just think if the good car dealers show this Rip Off Report to their car buyers before the lookers leave the lot if they are not ready to buy a car.
Just think how POWERFUL a FREE CLOSING TOOL like this can be.
Car dealers need to know that the Rip Off Report is on top of car dealer deception at all times.
If I were the victim of the above mentioned car dealer in this Rip Off report, I would fax a copy of this whole Rip Off Report to all of the car dealers that I have posted for you.

No wonder car dealers have such bad reputations. Is your wonderful customer service the reason your employer was fined $250,000.00? Do us all a favor and go take the proverbial long walk off the short pier. Just in case you can't read the local paper or understand electronic media, get someone to read the article below for you, Bob Ripoff a*****e. Additional litigation pending against this bunch of con artists.
State Fines Bill Heard Chevrolet $250,000 State: Bill Heard Chevrolet Was Too Aggressive
Bill Heard Chevrolet has agreed to pay the largest penalty a Central Florida car dealer has ever paid, $250,000, for what the state found at the end of a 9-month investigation.
The state felt Bill Heard Chevrolet was too aggressive in trying to sell cars.
Customer Maryann Kelly said when she went to the
dealership to test drive a car, employees took the keys to her car, plus the registration apers, and refused to give them back.
Finally after six hours, she gave in and agreed to buy a car.
"And after awhile, they broke me down. That's exactly what they did. They just break you down, and I'm sure I'm not the first one they've done this to," Kelly said.
The attorney general's office had 10 similar complaints. Bill Heard has to pay $75,000 in restitution to help consumers like Maryann.

Lady, you have been Slammed !!!
I feel that this car salesman did everything to keep you thinking that you could not afford the truck. Then he brought up a lease to you. He might have brought out a real high monthly payment on a purchase to try to scare you into a lease.
Dealers do this all the time because they make SO MUCH MORE MONEY IF YOU LEASE. Car dealers love to get people that do not understand how leases really work so they can do the following to you.
When a customer buys a car or truck, in most all cases, they want to know how much they are paying for the car that they are BUYING!! But, ... if a car buyer does not understand how a lease works, the car dealer will sell the car that you want to buy to a leasing company for up to 110% of the window sticker.
So if you are looking at a $26,000 dollar truck the dealer will sell it to the leasing company for $26,000 plus $2600, for a total $28,600. This is called MAXING THE CAP. Car dealers do this across the country, banks and leasing companies OK it, because they too make more money.
If you want to know how bad you car deal really is, go to a different car dealer and try to trade in your truck, the dealer will explain to you what has happened to you. You also might look at your lease contract and look at the "CAP COST" you might not be in love with your dealer or the truck anymore.
We also need to understand that car dealers send out vouchers to possible car buyers to get them on the dealer's lot. Consumers, don't fall for the voucher scam EVER!!!
We must not leave out the companies that go to car dealers across the country and teach car salesmen how to sell cars and stay off of the price. These companies have boot camps for car dealer's sales staff on how to take the buyers money in a non-confrontational way. Consumers have to be on their toes and keep a wide open eye on these salespeople.
Consumers must check the cost of EVERYTHING before one signs ANYTHING!!!!!
...By the way, I am getting real tired of car dealers selling extended warranties to car buyers that are leasing for a short time. Most car dealers sell extended warranties for 2 and 3 times more then what they pay for them. If you lease a car or truck for a short time, what the heck would you need to buy an extended warranty for?
Car buyers, do not ever fall for the "we don't show the factory invoice" when buying a new car or truck. All car dealers will show it if you tell them you will walk if they don't.
I must also ask if the above car dealer is diverting their C.S.I., if they want their customers to bring in the survey that the maker has sent to the BUYER!! Car dealers love it when they can talk the buyer into letting the dealer fill it out. Car buyers, Please never let the car dealer fill out the survey for you. Understand that this survey is a report card that the buyer can tell the maker how the buyer was treated. If a dealer tells you, if you bring the buyer's survey into them so they can "take care of the paperwork.".don't do it, it's a SCAM. NEVER LET THE DEALER FILL IT OUT!!!
