Best Buy reward zone sent out a coupon for $50 off of ANY garmin gps unit excluding closeouts, open box items, not valid with any other offer. Valid may 08 through Dec 31,2008

I took the coupon to the store on friday december 26, 2008, I picked out a garmin Nuvi 260w that was on sale.

To give you a short background on this store, new store in the area, this store didnt have any of the sale prices marked, very disorganized sale. The Person named Stacie advised that she was the General Manager of the store, has the poorest customer service skills that I have ever seen in a retail enviroment.

The personel at the store, gave me several reasons (lies) why they could not take the coupon, they said it could be a fake (nope it rang up on the register), I asked to speak with the Manager, they sent the GM named Stacie to the register, Stacie came to the register with a very poor attitude, and told me that "I dont Make the Coupons" I asked her who does, maybe we can call them so I can get the discount, she then lied to me and stated that the item is a close out.

I asked Stacie(nicely) to show me where it is on closeout, and I will accept that reason. She rudely told the cashier "just call the police to come and get him" and ran off, the cashier closed the register and left me standing there for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes she came back and advised that she needed the register, and told another person to call the police. I asked why, would this coupon warrant the police comming, she advised "because you are trespassing and wont leave" I advised you didnt ask me to leave. She said I am now, so I left.

As the store advised me to I contacted 1800bestbuy. I did they advised me of a memo on the coupon.

Everyone mentioned the memo on the $50 coupon.

The Rep at 1800bestbuy advised that they couldnt take the($50) coupon because of a $10 giftcard offer currently running through the 3rd of January. I was never offered this, and there was no sign in the store.

I figured it out

Best Buy sent out the coupons, but then later they decided not to honor the coupon, so they make other smaller promotions that are not optional, in order to override the coupon.

Im not an attorney, but the fact that they baited me into the store with a $50 coupon, then switched me to a $10 giftcard, does sound like BAIT-AND-SWITCH to me.

I looked all over town for the same model (that I was sold on) I ended up at ultimate electronics told the clerk the story. He told me that he would honor the coupon, and match the price in order to earn my business,

Wow the company I have been buying tvs, computers, appliances, movies, videogames, and just about all of my electronic purchases for the past 17 years was willing to give up my business for the sake of $40 ($50 coupon-$10 gift card)

Ultimate didnt have the model in stock, so I left, ended up at a 3rd bestbuy, they were out of stock(because they had it priced correctly), they advised that they would be getting a shipment this evening, and it is not a close out, I returned the next day to pick one up I asked about the coupon ( I didnt present it this time) the clerk remembered the memo and, and was very nice about it advised that the coupons were not any longer valid.

Even after having the worse retail experience I have ever had, I ended up at best buy and purchased the unit not allowed to use the coupon.

The store I purchased from (3rd I went to in 2 days) has been the best in customer service, so I didnt hassle them about the coupon. My loyality towards Bestbuy along with the best prices drew be back to purchase the item.

Im sure if Stacie would have had people skills, and or Care, Concern, and Empathy, she could have difused the situation (instead of esclating it) I would have accepted the Companies Bait and Switch, as how it was, and left the store in a possitive mood.

As a customer I will never return to the store listed, as I have seen how she handles such a small situation, (the cashier at the 3rd location did a better job at handling my complaint) how could I trust Stacie to handle My situation if I get a $5000 tv and it comes out of the box damaged, or if I ordered an item that didnt fit, and needed to return it.

I would trust the other 3 stores in the area with the responsibility, as I have completed many transactions with those stores, without problems.

After I purchased the Unit, I used it for an hour, and enjoyed the use of it so much, that I decided to purchase one (a cheaper model) for my Mom and one for my Daughter.

I would usually goto bestbuy for this purchase, I went to radioshack and made the purchase. Im loyal to BB but in the future Ill shop around a little more, the 2 things Important to me Price and Customer service, bestbuy no longer cares about the customer service.

I got off the subject, but Bestbuy Advertises Discounts that they have no desire to Honor.
