The Evil Empire: Bell Atlantic
Well, a truck went down our street on a Monday and hit our telephone wire. It was hanging in the street. Immediately, I called Bell Atlantic and asked them to replace the phone wire. The truck hit the wire at noon, and the phone company promised within an hour. After they didn't show, we called again. They "could not guarantee" someone would be there, and a person would show at about 9 AM the next day.
On Sunday, 6 days later, at 2 PM, our phone service was finally restored. I called the phone company about 22-25 times during that week, and was pretty much ignored. I personally do not think it is right that a person should be without phone service for 6 days, and to be put off. Furthermore, Bell Atlantic is the only company that can repair the wires. We replaced a well-functioning monopoly (AT&T) for this?
