I read the ripoff report of Khoi from Kansas, and I had a very similar thing happen to me at another Bank of America branch in New York City last week. On Friday, October 8th at 8:07 AM, I made a CASH deposit to the in-bank teller in the amount of $119.96 to my Bank of America checking account at the Bank of America branch located at 150 Broadway in New York City. I received a printed receipt for this transaction from the teller, but for some strange reason, this CASH deposit was never credited to my checking account. I called the Bank of America Customer Service number on Tuesday afternoon (Monday was Columbus Day, and the bank was closed), and they told me that the deposit was not yet credited to my account. When I asked them why, they said that they were having problems with the computers because of the recent Fleet Bank merger (The branch which I made my deposit at was a former Fleet Bank branch). They assured me that my deposit would probably be credited to my checking account the next day.

Well, I waited until late afternoon on Wednesday, but my deposit still had not been credited to my account as promised. I went into the branch the next morning and spoke to the head teller. She told me that they were having "computer problems" on Friday, but my deposit should have been credited to my account on Tuesday. When she checked, she said that there was no record of my deposit. I produced the printed receipt which I received from the teller after making my deposit, at which time she said "That's strange". She wanted to take the original receipt from me, but I refused to let her have it, as I didn't want her to conveniently "lose" it. I let her make a copy of the receipt, and she said that the bank would conduct an investigation. "Great", I said. "But when will my money be credited to my account?" She told me to be patient while the bank conducted it's investigation. I told her that since I produced proof that I had made that cash deposit, I wanted the money in question credited to my account immediately. She said that she was sorry, but she couldn't do that. I left the bank feeling like I had just been suckered by a con man.

I checked my balance again today, and sure enough, the money is STILL not in the account. What kind of a bank is this? I can't believe that one of the largest banks in the country is run in such an unprofessional manner!!! I am planning on filing a complaint with the New York State Banking Commission first thing tomorrow morning, and I plan on closing my account as soon as my outstanding clecks clear, and as soon as my $119.96 is finally credited to my account! Bank of America - Higher Standards? Higher standards of what? Blatantly ripping off their customers?
