As a former sales person for Auto Nation I know for a fact that they are actively buying totaled cars form other states where they are refurbished.

In many states, they do not require totaled vehicles to have a "salvaged title."

Auto nation then has them transferred to other states to be sold as Vehicles that were not in a wreck.

Buyer be wear! You can easily tell if this is the case. No matter what state or what dealership you buy a vehicle from, do check all around the vehicle for "over spray" paint, where paint does not belong. Any good mechanic can tell this for you and they would know what else to look for.

DO not be fooled by the sales person! Sometimes even the sales person is not aware of this. _______________________________________________

CARS THAT WERE IN THE FLOODS IN THE LAST YEAR ARE BEING SOLD AS GREAT CARS ..Hidden problems! _______________________________________________

Auto Nation and other dealers across the country have been buying cars that have been reconditioned from the floods over the last year. This can be easily detected by a mildew odor. Smell carefully the car and even around the car engine. Even the best detail shops have a hard time getting rid of this smell. Again, take the car to your mechanic for inspection. Don't take a chance!

Auto Nation is buying out dealers all over the US. They may have bought the dealer near you!

Of all the sectors of retail, the Sleazy American Car Business has the worse reputation.  Laundering titles is nothing new.  The selling of flood cars is nothing new.  The use of bogus, add-on, phoney fees is nothing new.  Unfortunately, customers who walk in to a store with their tongues hanging out because they "just have to have THAT car", is nothing new either.  The slime of the car business know they can VERY EASILY get away with fraud because they also know the average customer doesn't know what they are doing and/or are all too willing to play the role of doormat.  When you take a look at the reports on this site, you'll find the majority of the customers who have a legitimate complaint could have avoided it by using common sense.  But they just "have to have THAT car".  What's worse is the sucker who goes into an absolutely STUPID DEAL of buying a used car sight unseen on the internet.  No matter how anyone tries to justify such a senseless transaction, when you strip away the justification, the message which comes banging thru loud and clear is pure stupidity.  We need more people like you to attempt to educate the public.  I say "attempt" because often times those of us who advocate being a smart consumer are banging our heads against the wall because of the mentality of throwing common sense out the window because of a stupid car.  The sleaze bags, con-artists and slime balls wouldn't exist if there weren't people who can't wait to play doormat, sucker or chump all because of a stupid car!
