Hello. My nightmare stated when I obtained a visa through Columbus Bank and Trust and Compuserve out of Atlanta Ga back in 2001.

I received the card with a 300.00 credit limit but had an activation fee attached of 179.00.(Hidden charge) I used the card at an ATM and pulled out 120.00 and then used it once again to make a small purchase for goods.

I sent payments in paying off the one time charge of 120.00 and requested a final payoff so I could get rid of the card I could never get a final payoff and was never able to reach a real person via phone Just kept going into VM. I sent a note requesting they close the account with a final bill Didnt hear back from them for serveral months. Only used this card twice with a 300.00 limit and now they have turned the account over to a collection agency in Califonia by the name of West Asset Management.

Last year October I contacted Credit Management a consolidation credit card company who told me they could settle the debt for 1,000.00 Well as of today Asprie Visa or West Asset will not settle for that amoung and want 1,400.00 as their lowest settlement.

Credit Management keeps requesting a final bill from the company, however they can not produce one.

I came across an article where the Attorney General of New York won a settlement from Aspire Visa for 11 million dollars in July 2006. The card company was fined for charging hidden fees, illegal collection practices and signing customers up for different membership programs not authorized by the card holder

I have withdrawn my settlement offer and in all good conscience was not sure if even paying 1,000.00 to them was right I didnt know what else to do at the time. I fear even if a person paid the settlement offer you still would not be rid of this company.

There are hundreds of complaints on the different internet websites against this card Columbus Bank and Trust is not honoring this card anymore and I have seen different websites that offered Aspire that have taken the card off

I have contacted the Attorney Generals office in Nebraska and Consumer Protection and have not heard anything back This was over 2 weeks ago. I only have one credit card to my name that I have been using now for 9 years with no problem. I have paid off my home and my credit is not the best due to past job losses and company buy outs after being employed with one company for 17 years.

I need advice and help! I am a hard worker and want to do the right thing HELP My niece is an attorney with the US Attorney Generals office in Chicago, ILL and I have not contacted her yet regarding this matter because she is not in Nebraska and I dont know at this time what she can do

Thank you for being there and listening This Aspire Visa has to stop It hasnt just hurt me and my credit rating but thousands of other people in all states as well.

Robbie
