WE PURCHASED A 1998 DODGE DURANGO ON 8-1-00.ON 11-11-00 MY FAMILY OF FIVE ATTEMPTED TO GO SEE FAMILY IN DECATUR,IL WHEN OUR BACK WHEEL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE CAME COMPLETELY OFF.WE WERE ON ROUTE 51 ALMOST TO MAROA,IL GOING 65 WE ARE LUCKY WE ARE NOT DEAD. WE HAD PURCHASED A EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM PINNACLE.

UPON GOING TO BOB BRADY DODGE FOR PARTS OR SERVICE I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULDN'T HONOR MY WARRANTY. AFTER TOWING THE SUV TO A FRIEND'S FOR $45 MY HUSBAND HAD TO PUT IT TOGETHER AND BARELY GOT IT HOME. RETURNING TO GET IT SERVICED TO ART HOSSLER IN CANTON,ILL WHERE I PURCHASED AND HAVING FAITH IN THE SALESMAN JOEL PICTON I WAS TOLD TODAY ON THE 14TH OF NOVEMBER THAT NEITHER THE DEALERSHIP NOR THE WARRANTY COMPANY WILL HONOR MY REPAIR.

THE KICKER IS WE HAVE NOT ALTERED THE VEHICLE IN ANY WAY PLUS OUR AGEEMENT UPON BUYING THIS $25,000 VEHICLE WAS THE BRAKES WERE TO BE REPLACED BY ART HOSSLER. JOEL ASSURED US THAT IT WAS DONE.WHICH THEY NOW SAY THEY ONLY DID THE FRONT BECAUSE AFTER CHECKING THE BACK ONES THEY DID NOT NEED REPLACED.

NOW THAT MEANS THEY DID REMOVE THE TIRE AND DRUM SO THEY WERE THE LAST ONE THAT TOOK OFF MY TIRE. NOW WE ARE STUCK REPLACING THE DRUM, BRAKE,BACK PLATE, RIM PLUS LABOR. I FEEL AFTER PAYING THAT MUCH FOR A VEHICLE PLUS $1645 FOR A EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT I DESERVE GOOD SERVICE.PLEASE TELL ME WHAT I CAN DUE TO GET FAIR TREATMENT.

My husband and I were thinking of buying a car from Bob Brady, but we started looking around the internet for reviews. We found so many other reviews just like this one. We immediately told the extremely pushy sales lady that we were no longer interested. I've dealt with companies like this before and I never want to deal with a company that is willing to steal my money ever again. Thanks for stopping us from making a HUGE mistake.

To: Subject: *CONSUMER ADVOCATE SOLUTION to RipOffReport Date: Wed, 15 Nov 2000 07:39:11 -0700 This email is a CONSUMER SOLUTION to RipOff #3849. It was sent by Robert Sokol at [email protected]. ART HOSSLER CAR DEALERSHIP, CANTON, ILL THREE TIRES IN THEIR OPINION IS JUST AS GOOD AS FOUR ..WARRANTY RIPOFF (#3849) ART HOSSLER CAR DEALERSHIP (Auto Dealer Repairs) They filed the following *CONSUMER SOLUTION to the above Rip-Off Report: *CONSUMER ADVOCATE "POSSIBLE" SOLUTION: 1) There is no obligation for any other dealership to honor an extended warranty. Most extended warranties allow the customer to pay for the repairs and to be reimbursed later. I don't see this an issue with the extended warranty company. They will not ever pay for abuse, neglegent, or faulty repairs. There are not many ways a wheel can fall off a car on its own. On the surface, it appears the technician who last worked on your vehicle did not fully tighten the lug nuts. I would suggest that you call your insurance agent to make him aware, and then find a local automotive expert to examine the wheel. It can be determined by looking at the worn parts why the wheel fell off. You might need to contact an attorney. Dealerships have insurance for situations like this.
