Arizona Career Network, after qualifing me in an extensive "pre-screening interview", promised it could help me change careers and maintain or raise my previous salary. I was unemployed and needed to find something in one month. I was assured that the time frame would not be a problem.

My wife and I were told all about the "hidden job market". We were told to check with the Better Business Bureau to assure ourselves as to AZ Career Network's legitimacy, unlike Bernard Haldane & Assoc. I was assured that they alone had a "personal network" of the 17,000 personally placed professionals that would be my inside contacts.

To take advantage of a "not-for-profit company grant" of $1200, I had to pay upfront the entire retainer cost of $2300. It was also stated that the majority of companies they placed people with gladly paid the retainer as a recruiter fee.

The "personal network" was a data bank of original phone numbers and positions of former placed clients, friends and misc. manager names from the company's roster. Since I was part of "network" now, I was expected to help update the out-of-date data files.

The "hidden job market" was something I would have to discover by myself. The companies contacted on my behalf were both from unadvertised positions that were discovered through AZ Career Network contacts but mostly from ads out of The Arizona Republic.

I notified AZ Career Network of my dissatisfaction. I was told that it was not the company's fault if I did not receive offers from contacts I made on my own and those supplied from them. The company did hurriedly make several more contacts on my behalf from advertised and non-advertised positions. Those contacts did result in interviews but sadly no offers.

My association with AZ Career Network was ended at my request and a refund settlement was agreed to and paid. I consider the matter closed. I have not taken, nor plan to take, any action of any kind regarding my contract with AZ Career Network or its president, Randy Aleshire.

To whom it may concern:

Regarding the Storm Hurwin complaint that was posted on the ripoffreport web site. It now appears you have been ripped off, read on!

The AZcareerNetwork works very hard to maintain an impeccable quality and consistent history of meeting or exceeding the expectations of it clientele.

The AZcareerNetwork is licensed and bonded and operates under the statutes of the state of Arizona.

Remedy for any complaints is through various means;

1. The state Attorney Generals office at 888-377-6108, where there are attorneys who can take your complaint and help resolve issues for you at no charge.

2. The Better Business Bureau at 877-291-6222, complaints are taken and processed at no charge to the consumer. Arbitration is also provided at no charge to the consumer.

3. The industrial Commission / Labor department of the state of Arizona at 602-542-4411, complaints are taken and investigated through this agency and should there exist a problem this agency has the authority to close the violating agency.

Mr. Hurwin has chosen not to avail himself of the before mentioned proper means of remediation, however instead chooses to slander and defame and attack personally through character assassination the owners of the AZcareerNetwork.

Mr. Hurwin accepted a refund from the AZcareerNetwork and declined binding arbitration through the Better Business Bureau. Mr. Hurwin accepted a refund and signed a receipt for this refund stating by his signature this concludes this complaint, apparently not, think about that!

Currently our corporate attorneys will do what attorneys do and see that Mr. Hurwin meets his natural consequences for his choices.

The reason the AZcareerNetwork is responding to this complaint is simply this, we have been here in business since 1976. The AZcareerNetwork has had the privilege of working with thousands and thousands of quality professional career changers, we have an impeccable record. We have never in all of our years of doing business had an unresolved issue, according to the above mentioned reporting agencies.

Rip Off Report was obviously created to give the average citizen a vehicle to both get even with a company who they feel ripped them off and also as a means to warn others about their experience.

I can't imagine you would allow or take any pleasure in your "labor of love" actually injuring the injured. Sadly, that is exactly what has happened.

Your service invites non-lawyers to outline, in their own words, the circumstances of the rip off. I was quite angry when I filed my report and stupidly I added several personal evaluations and charges. These slips of sanity and civility were out of place and served no useful purpose in legitimizing my claim.

I, in fact, realized my errors of judgment right after filing my report and attempted to cancel it. I wanted to file it again later, sticking to the facts but without the distracting venom. It turns out my attempt to voluntarily remove my own report before the company I reported on had a chance to see it was unsuccessful.

I was glad I "canceled" my report because it turned out that AZ Career Network was actually responsible for several of my interviews. I signed a settlement agreement promising to hold AZ Career Network harmless in any future action regarding our contract.

I thought the whole thing was finished, so you can imagine my surprise when I received a letter from the company's law firm threatening an action of libel and slander for the regrettable choice of words I used in the still "active report".

I've E-Mailed Rip Off Report several times to help me resolve this unfortunate situation. You will have to excuse my ignorance regarding E-Mail and internet access companies. My impression was that my report was secured against unwanted tampering by my E-Mail Address and a secret password.

I E-Mailed you from my home, requesting that the report be removed from the site, as I tried to do myself, to preclude any legal liability I might incur. I received back an angry E-Mail from Rip Off Report questioning just who I was. The reply also inferred some kind of internet access scam that I am embarrassed to say I have no idea what it was talking about. I E-Mailed you from the same address and internet access company my report was originally filed under.

I would appreciate the opportunity to replace the original unintentional report with an updated and factually correct report.

I am confident your readers will be able to surmise the truthfulness and legitimacy of AZ Career Network and Randy Aleshire without the venom.

I am asking for your help, so AZ Career Network can not add any additional financial liability.

Sincerely,

Storm Hurwin
