In January of 2014 I decided to do a bathroom remodel that would include a new stacked washer/dryer. I met with a rep from the remodel company who gave me some pointers on size and type of electric w/d to look for. To get the best price I did a lot of on-line searching of companies here in California as well as on-line. Appliances Connection on-line was having a special sale and had the best price. I believe their warehouse is in Texas. It was a "NO Tax" and "No Shipping Fee" special too. So, I called to inquire about the timeframe and review my appliance needs with them. I was given a model # and later ordered and was charged for that particular GE electric w/d.

Due to delays in the rennovation of the bathroom, I was forced to have the shipping company delay its arrival at my home. It was delivered to my carport on 1/31/14 even though I was not ready yet to have it installed. I had called and requested a further delay which was not honored. I had also paid Appliance Connection for installation $161.00 and a 3 year service warranty $99.00. I did not realise at that point that I had been shipped a GAS model rather than the ELECTRIC model I had ordered.

The w/d sat in the carport until the remodel company was ready for construction in March. They were the ones that realised I had a gas dryer rather than an electric. I had taken it for granted that I had been shipped the model I had been given the model # for by the appliances connection rep on the phone. We had gone beyond the 30 day return policy at that point and Appliances Connection would not consider taking the w/d back. I sent pictures showing them that it was still in the original carton with all of the original packing material, to no avail.

Even though I had paid for a 3 year warranty and hook-up, which were never used, appliances connection would not even credit back those amounts to us.

There was an difference of ONE letter in the model # that created this problem. Was I given the wrong style number on the phone? Did I write-down the wrong style number because I heard it incorrectly? At this point with three pages of back and forth communication with Appliances Connection I have been told I have no recourse but to attempt to sell the w/d myself.

I have offered to pay a re-shelving fee and the freight back to Appliances Connection but they will not budge from their excuse of a 30 day return policy. Certainly there have to be some exceptions to that rule? We're not all perfect and we know the're not!
