I have a Small Business on the side besides working full time. I look for stores that rent booth space or rooms and sell my items while I work. On weekends I do shows to pick up more business. I met this couple a year ago they moved to the other side of town to pick up more business. I rented space from them plus other other places. They seemed to be very serious and eager to help small businesses. Meanwhile I hear all kinds of stories on how they have screwed vendors in the past. In July of this year they had an arguement with the landlord and we had to find a new building. This is where eight of us chipped in $100.00 a piece. We were told we would be on the board and make major business decisions. All of us would pay rent and after a year what was made after all costs we would divide up. A friend of mine hooked us up with some people where we didn't have to pay a deposit on the building and we also got a lower electric deposit plus broken up over six months. I was told in this building if I rented a room ($150.00 for a 10x10) the fee would cover electric and jantorial service. I have been in business for 3 years and have my own accounts and clients. I set this up like it was my own place and had all my mail sent there. So we are rocking right along, no board was ever called together to make decisions. We're all paying rent except Barbara and Larry. He's puts in an Ice Cream Shop....doesn't pay rent, which this is space we could rent out and make some money. Then they give up their apartment and move in the store, which they don't have a permit for and when the city finds out everyone else will pay the price on top of that it was space we could have rented out to small businesses. The board was never asked if they could. We are all volunteering time, paper, stamps, and helping them advertise their Mall for them. I was very misled in everything I was told. I got a note that I needed to take out my own trash....so what I paid $150.00 for is beyond me....they opened all my mail, including bills. This mail had my company name on it and they didn't even allow me to open it. I have items numbers (sw299) and then the price ($10.99) on items and they sold it for $2.99. One other "board member" got in an arguement with her because she wanted tax info from her, Barbara got mad at her and gave her $100.00 back to her. On October 20, 2000 after my 4th $10.99 item had been sold for $2.99 (I called the girl an idiot) and I had enough of the lies -I found a note that if I was unhappy to leave...so I did. This is November 15, 2000 and I have not received my October sales money of $134.64 plus $100.00 investment total of $234.64 nor have I received what the actual sales were and what tax they paid. I need this for my income taxes. There isn't a contract and if one person has already received their $100.00 why haven't I? What actually happened is we paid for these people a business and home. I was used the whole time and screwed out of time and money. There was never a board or people serious enough to rent out space and make some money. We were all had by these two con artists and I'm sure they will do it again. Now I want my money and I'm tired of fooling with these people. Small businesses and/or vendors be careful, listen to what other people have said about them. They had a business in Haughton then they moved to Shreveport, then to Downtown Shreveport. I'm sure they will con again.
